They've been beating that horse every moment they can. It's such a joke at this point. On the people to blame for this loss, Vokoun's name is pretty far down the list.
Both NBC and CBC trying to stir it into more of a controversy than it is, methinks. Vokoun was good tonight. A little help from pretty much everyone else in front of him and nobody would be talking about him.
Whatever. It's one game, we'll get it back. Sid has to pull his head out and play like he can.
I don't see the Bruins beating us unless we beat ourselves - as we did tonight. They don't have enough talent. I'm not impressed.
The best they can hope for is to make the game look like it did in period 2 and hope that they get enough junk goals.
I'm annoyed by this loss. The way the Pens played tonight reminds me of the way they played against Philly last year except that Boston's defense isn't made of swiss cheese. Too many of our big players trying to get chippy.
So this game looks exactly like the Miami game that just ended....we dominated early and than got the life sucked out of us...the more talented team lost because our players did not help out our best player who carried us as far as he could
Pretty much this. Sid got frustrated for no real reason. Malkin fought, got it out of his system, and kept playing. He was by far the most dangerous Pen tonight. Kunitz looked was meh and so was Iggy. I would switch those 2 but we know that won't happen.
-The NBC crew for talking about playing Fleury. Vokoun has one game with a .900 save percentage and all of a sudden we should play the guy with a sub .900 sv%?
Your down 1-0 nothing going into the 3rd period, on the PP, You don't want one of the 2 best players in the world sitting in the box for 5 minutes, Can you explain why you think it was a good thing for Malkin to fight at that time of the game?
Malkin and Neal were bringing it. I hope they continue to do so next game.
Sid's gotta be a Hell of a lot better in the faceoff dot, and in terms of keeping his composure.
Vitale in for Morrow. Need someone who is capable of winning a faceoff.
Letang stunk out loud in his own zone tonight.
We'll be fine. It was a good game, but we out-played them for big stretches of the game. The Cooke penalty/ejection was complete ********. Give the guy two minutes, he deserved it, but a major and tossing him? Guess that's what happens when you're name is Matt Cooke. No problem for Marchand though. Heh...
I hate to say it, but Milbury wasn't too far off base in his comments tonight. Reel in the frustration and emotional ********, and calm down your game. If it continues like this, it's going to look a lot like the Flyers series, minus some atrocious goaltending from MAF. Speaking of Fleury, I hope Vokoun doesn't get yanked. He's not the reason we lost tonight.
IMO, if Cooke is suspended, then I put Vitale AND Bennett in. Kennedy has outlived his usefulness. He's back to full spaz mode.
I'd keep TK and sit Morrow. TK on the 4th line is a decent player. Morrow has just not had much of an impact for any stretch of the playoffs and is stretched on the 3rd line when playing with a poorly-playing Sutter and TK.
Sutter has been underwhelming but don't see anyway DB uses him as anything other than 3C.
-Letang was horrible
-Sid was really frustrated for who knows what reason
-Cooke gets 5 and a game, yet Marchand only gets 2 for the same hit.
-Hitting the post 3 times.
+Geno seemed fine with the physical play and didn't lose it.
+++We played very sluggish, had every bounce go against us, and still were in the game. I don't see Boston getting that lucky every game.
+I still believe the Pens can beat Boston and some spotty officiating.
Let's bring back our top lines setup where a certain HOF RW isnt out of position, shall we Danny boy? You know, the guy who has two points in his last 5 games since being introduced onto his current line. Of course Im talking about a return to the following top 6:
This is going to be an easy thread. I actually loved the efforts and loved how this team played. The puck didn't go in. Whoooooppttty doo. I bet you if we play the same way we did in the first forty minutes, we win the series. No doubt in my mind. The team just needs to make sure they stay poised and focused.
I was honestly very happy with the play through the 2nd goal being scored. It was tremendous. We could have been up 2-3 goals easily. Let's just stay focused there.
Couple small moves i'd make to the line up:
1) Engo or Despres in; Eaton out.
+ First 40 minutes
+ Dominating physical play
+ Malkin was a beast when he wasn't in the box
+ Sutter's best game in these playoffs.
- Couldn't catch a break in front of the net
- Ice looked bad. Can it not be fixed?
- Malkin in the box for 5
- Eaton wasn't good
- Sid was due for a bad game. He'll bounce back.
- Martin has to stop trying to block shots. He's better at poke-checking.
