Balmas had 4 assists tonight giving him 14 points in 5 games so far.

South Shore / CB West didn't input stats yet so no update on Getson.

I'll go out on a limb and say these two will battle for the scoring race

What if Chad Krys decides to play in the QMJHL, were would he rank. I assume he would definately be a top 3 with good chance of being #1. I've been hearing a lot about him

Id have to say that you are not far off the mark. Not sure if he can be a legitimate #1, defencemen always seem to sink a bit regardless of their skill level. Also, would he even consider the Q as a path ?

Doesn't matter where he'd be ranked, high end Americans who want to play in the Q will decide where they're going or go lower than they should to a team that took a flyer on a kid who may change his mind there has only been 1 American drafted in the top 10 in the last 10 years

That guess would be very wrong.

Having seen the MD AAA teams from the Maritimes at the reebok challenge - it brings doubts to my mind as to the strength of those leagues.

I am not arguing that I am saying that the poster I responded to was saying that Balmas or Getson would not do well in another AAA league outside of the maritimes. Having seen them play and many quebec aaa games I can assure you Balmas would do well. No doubt he is a high first round pick this year.

You understand Balmas is on the worst NSMMHL team (4-18-0-2) and he's 4th in scoring, right? He has 38pts in 20 games and the guys ahead of him are only up by 2-4 points in 5-8 more games He'd do well anywhere.

The league is weaker, no doubt, as it has 8 teams per million persons and Que has 2 so the NS teams will get more diluted.

But consider this: that annually Que about 14.5 kids/million get drafted into the Q and NS puts about 20 kids/million ( going back 7 years ). Stronger league? sure ? But it doesnt seem to damper the top kids getting drafted, and the rest is up to them.

Balmas and Getson would be top '98 prospects in Quebec.
