2013 CHL Import Draft

I believe goes in early July, possibly July 3rd.

I figured this could be the spot for all draft chatter. Who holds the top picks, which players are the top guys available? What about goalies?

From Russia.
One of the best defs from U17 NT - Sergeev and Mikulovich will be in the CHL.
Maybe Tkachev from Omsk.
Not sure about best russian U17 forwards. But i think someone will be there. Svechnikov, Nekolenko, Nikolishin, Lazarev, Zinoviev.

Nikita Lyamkin is a name I'm watching. Don't know much about him, but Mark Edwards is very high on him. Sounds like he could be a top pick

Don't know if there is a cutoff date for European prospects, but is Ehlers eligible for this one in 2013 or the 2014 import?

Some really interesting talent that will be drafted for this one and in 2014.

They have to be born in 1996 Maximum. NO 1997 or older ...

So yes Ehlers is avaiable.

Burakowski will be a top pick for sure! I think he can finish in top 10 scoring of a CHL league ...

Thank you!

Parker Tuomie (GER)
Nikolaj Ehlers (DEN)
Mario Huber (Austria)
Vilmos Gallo (HUN/SWE)
Rihards Bukarts (LAT)[Looking more likely to stay in KHL for this season]

Are all the interesting players for me.

Then you have Yu Hikosaka who could be drafted, but I doubt it.

I believeas of right now this is what the top 20 picks are going to look like. But feel free correct mistakes if there is any..

1.Vancouver
2.Ottawa
3.Cape Breton
4.PG
5.Erie
6.Halifax
7.Brandon
8.Peterborough
9.Saint John
10.Everett
11.Windsor
12.Halifax
13.Seattle
14.Missassauga
15.Rouyn
16.Regina
17.Kingston
18.Gatineau
19.Moose Jaw
20.Windsor

I'm really hoping my 67s can snag one of the elite level russian forwards with the 2nd overall pick, especially Svechnikov. Everytime I've watched this guy play he looks like an absolute gamebreaker and who could fit in very nicely with ottawa's up and coming forward group. Dont see it happening tho. Anyways, has anyone on here heard any rumours regarding who Vancouver might be considering with the 1st pick?

I think I guy like burakovsky ends up with either Erie, Halifax or Windsor. Both Halifax and Windsor have high picks and have the resources to bring in a player of Burakovsky's caliber. I listed Erie because they already have a fellow swede on thier team in Dansck and could be looking for a high end forward to play with McDavid for this year and next.

Neither player is most likely to come seeing as they both have plans on playing pro in thier respective countries for next season. Lehkonen played a regular shift for Kalpa(SM-liiga) this past season so i cant see him coming, while Vrana has signed on to play for Linkoping in the swedish elite league for next year. But you never know I guess. Id love to see Vrana end up in the CHL.

Strome is obvously a very important piece, but he's only one player and if Erie really wants to compete then their going to need more than one big line that can score. Plus, Strome is also a centre and is still only sixteen. I'm sure they'll get powerpaly time together but as of right now I think he's better suited to play on the second line and develop that way.

Adam Veliky again?

I wish the CHL Import draft was similar to the QMJHL draft in 1 small way, the only people available to be drafted had to be listed (For QMJHL it's on the CSR list) so we at least had an idea as to what players were interested in coming to the CHL & which players had teams who were interested in them for the draft.
