Winter Classic Discussion

So some tickets went on sale this week on ticket master - ranging somewhere between $149-$250 ish I believe

anyone get any?

there are lots of people who are just happy to stay home and not be there - which I don't think it is a bad idea at all. The experience of being there though in front of 110,000 hockey fans would be pretty amazing

What would you guys pay to attend this game if you had decent seats?

Got an email that I was selected in the ticket raffle yesterday and bought the tickets today. Can't wait!
By the way, I can't make it to the AHL game at Comerica Park on the 30th. If anyone wants tickets at face value, PM me.

No, I had the chance to get a couple tickets but passed it up. I'd rather sit at home and watch this one nursing a hangover, as opposed to nurse that hangover in the freezing cold.

I'm going with a few buddies to watch and party in Detroit. Should be good.
I also have 4 Marlies tickets available all together at face value!

Nah. If this was a once in a lifetime opportunity, I would.. but looks like a boatload of teams are getting outdoor games next season. They just have to go and ruin a good thing. I'll wait till they host it at the dome.

Ya, but youre in Detroit...

I have no intention of even trying to get to the Winter Classic proper, but I do plan on attending the London Knights game at Comerica Park.

I had a hotel booked in Ann Arbor for last year through Hotwire. After the winter classic was cancelled I was not able to get a refund as it did not fall in their list of "eligible requirements".

Apparently it had to be a medical emergency as the only chance in hell of cancelling that hotel.

I'll watch it from TO this year.

this new years was on the weekend...next year its in the middle of the week..which really ruins everything..you will need to take 2-3 days off work..and then there is the addition of all the other outdoor games to totally remove the novelty of the game..i still have the tickets i bought last year but im probably not going to go

Me too!

Bought my tickets yesterday! It cost me $768: $149/ticket for the winter classic, $28/ticket for the AHL game (they make you buy them) and a $60 service charge. Pumped I got the opportunity to buy tickets at retail prices.

Was also able to book a hotel room at Courtyard Marriott (1 room, 2 queens, 4 people, 2 nights) for $572.

Split 4 ways that's $335/person for tickets and accommodation.

The best seats available to me were section 30, greens. What seats did you get?

Helllll no.

I'll just lie and say I went, years later. You know, the same way that 200,000 people were somehow at the Dome when Joe Carter hit his home run.

I had my tickets last year and got them refunded due to the lockout.

Not gonna go again. Since we made the playoffs, I've found myself to have a growing disdain for live crowds. I'd rather watch with two or three of my friends at home.

I was there and can confirm there were not 200,000 others.

I missed that but I was at Woodstock.

Well I can remember playing in the freezing cold in outdoor arenas but I am to old and soft for that outdoor gig now.

While I have no doubt it would be a fun atmosphere to experience live, I'm going to watch it from my house on my 46 inch HD TV.

Plus even if I wanted to go chances are I will have just come back from vacation because during the month of December I go to Orlando, Florida. So I wouldn't be able to go away only a few days later.

or you could go to Ann Arbor and have basically an entire college town to yourself because students are off on break? you may not know this, but college students tend to require an ample number of drinking establishments

I actually won the chance to get tickets last year, and got them for someone, but got the refund because of the lockout.

Also got an email where I could have bought them early or something, but I can't afford them for one, and second I think I'd rather watch it on TV. I wouldn't mind taking in the Windsor Spitfires games - could just park my car downtown and take the tunnel bus over.

Also - for those getting hotels - why not look in Windsor?????
