Flyers sign Oliver Lauridsen, 2-year ext. (report: $1.2m, two-way deal in first yr.)

As per Flyers website, Laurisden was resigned for 2 year contract extension.

Quote:
The Flyers have agreed to a two-year contract extension with defenseman Oliver Lauridsen, according to GM Paul Holmgren.

The 24-year-old Lauridsen appeared in his first season with the Flyers, posting two goals and three points to go along with 34 penalty minutes in 15 games, while averaging just over 15 minutes of ice time.

He made his NHL debut on March 30 against the Boston Bruins.

A native of Gentofte, Denmark, Lauridsen also represented his country in the 2013 World Championships following the Flyers season.

Quote:
The Philadelphia Flyers re-signed restricted free agent defenseman Oliver Lauridsen to a two-year contract extension, it was announced Wednesday.

Lauridsen finished his second professional season with a 15-game call up to Philadelphia, which included his March 30 NHL debut, after playing 59 games with the Adirondack Phantoms.

The stay-at-home defenseman, a fixture on Adirondack’s penalty kill, scored one goal and assisted five others with the Phantoms. The 24-year-old had two goals and one assist with the Flyers.

The $1.2-million contract is a two-way deal in the first year, meaning Lauridsen will make less money if he plays in the AHL, and a one-way contract in the second year, according to Flyers insider Anthony SanFilippo. In that year, he will earn the same amount of money no matter where he plays.

I hope he sees a ton of minutes in adk this year he really needs to play to develop. ive said before I think hes the type of player who could really benefit from playing overseas. its a shame thats not really an option while he remains flyers property. hes still probably at least a year away from being nhl ready but with that kind of size im willing to wait.

1st year is 2-way deal while the second year is one way. Both 600K per year. I like the signing. If he continues to progress the way we have seen lately, he will be a nice touch in our bottom pairing. Physical, nasty, fights, pretty good slapper, wasn't horrible defensively. Hopefully he is working his ass off with his agility and skating so he comes back better than ever. His lateral movement is what seemed to get him in trouble up with the big team last year. Get the kid moving and he gets out of position, luckily for him he has the wing span of a 777 boeing.

probably won't amount to more than a bottom pairing defenseman. But that's a good thing considering he was taken in the 7th round

Should probably spend next season in the AHL and will probably be the first injury call-up

we're no at 48 contracts (50 once Manning and Wellwood sign), with 2 that can slide

I truly hope he develops into another Chara type player, talk about how sweet that would be.

I have a better chance of going on a date with Emma Stone than Lauridsen turning into Pronger or Chara

Say what you want about him but I really like the way he played last season. Was he perfect? No but he showed a lot of potential. Most likely a 6\7 guy but maybe, just maybe he may become something more!!

Year 1 of the contract is 2 way contract, Year 2 of the contract is 1 way contract....like Bourdon's current contract...

I just dont see why the team would potentially handcuff themselves next year by giving him a 1 way contract. But clearly the flyers see Potential.

It only effects the amount of money he gets paid... Essentially next year he gets the NHL wage even if he's in the AHL.
