Who's penciled in to face John Cena for the title at Money in the Bank?

Daniel Bryan.

Quote:
- WWE officials have very big plans for Daniel Bryan this summer. Right now, Bryan vs. WWE Champion John Cena is the penciled in main event for the July 14th Money in the Bank pay-per-view from Philadelphia.

Word is that it will be a babyface vs. babyface match. WWE officials are fully aware that Bryan will be heavily cheered in Philadelphia. The feeling is that officials won't try to turn Bryan heel but that may change.

He'll go under, but at least Bryan will be back in the title picture.

B-b-but Daniel Bryan is a mid-carder!

This is good news. He's one of the most over -- if not, THE most over -- guy in the company right now.

Would be an excellent main event match I think too. Bryan has a similar style to Punk, which meshed extremely well with Cena.

Let the match go 25 minutes and put Cena over clean. Sell some fatigue or something on Bryan, have him make a lazy mistake and Cena pounces for the win. Have a rematch at Summerslam, a best of 3 falls match. Bryan gets the first on a lucky roll up, Cena gets the 2nd clean on a pin, and Bryan turns heel scoring his 3rd pinfall.

I'm in.

The matches would be new, refreshing, and amazing. And I won't knock on DB as I'm one of his biggest fans around these parts, but there is a different from being completely over and drawing. I don't think he will ever be a main draw, but there is no doubt in my mind he can be the guy who fights the main draw for big time money.

I can't wait to see the matches.

Yeah I don't see him as "the guy" right now either, or ever to be honest. I think he makes a very credible and entertaining challenger though, and could see him holding the WWE title for a couple months at some point in the next year.

Cena/Bryan matches have very high potential. I eagerly await this feud which is something rare for me saying that with anything involving Cena.

Bella Ladder Match? Winner is the first man to climb the ladder and pull down both Bellas.

I'd watch that.

You don't have to be "the guy" to be a big draw. Jericho, for instance, was a HUGE draw and he was never THE guy, even when he was the Undisputed Champion.

I'm all for this feud.

And if they put the title on Bryan, meaning going over Cena, that would be HUGE for him.

Sounds great.

I've been a Bryan supporter since day one when he debuted in WWE as a heel. If they want Bryan to be a top card main eventer guy then please let him win. I'm sick of Cena..

Now we'll see if WWE wants to go with status quo for Bryan or actually push him. Treating him as fodder to the champion does him no good. He did this already with CM Punk last year. If it were me, I'd put Bryan over winning via the No Lock because Cena passes out. That way he doesn't tap, Bryan wins his first WWE big boy title, and you legitimize his wrestling style and his main event status in one PPV match. This would work as nobody in their right mind would expect it to happen. Nobody expects Bryan to go over on Cena, face or heel, at any point regardless of the quality of the angle...which should be great and fresh.

Not to get too far off-topic, but;

- '99 when he jumped ship
- 2001 when he defeated The Rock for the WCW Championship at No Mercy
- 2003 when he faced Shawn Michaels at Wrestlemania
- 2008's feud with Shawn Michaels (also known as the feud of the year)

Just to name a few. There's more. Face it, Jericho was involved in several programs over his career that made him a huge draw. Yes, he faced top tier guys but he did a hell of a lot of work to make things happen too. His feud in '08 with Michaels was and still is one of the best feuds I have ever witnessed.

Never THE guy, but Jericho was a huge draw at many points throughout his career.

I like it, but dont expect him to beat Cena. At least not without a major twist and interference anyway.
