Not sure if this is the place for league news, but here it is:

The Colorado Avalanche and the Phoenix Coyotes have worked out a deal:

The Avs send (D) Dion Phaneuf to the 'Yotes in exchange for (RW) Bill Guerin.

How can you send someone who has never played an NHL game for a 30 goal 60 points scoring PF

That trade WONT go through. I dont want to be a bad guy but thats a pure rip off.

And in the rules it stands: - No trading of picks, but trading players is allowed to any team. Equal players must go both ways though.

And Phaneuf, Guerin ARENT equal.

Well, thanks for the warning ... but a couple things:

I think "equal players" originally denoted quantity, not quality -- i.e., no 2-1, 3-2, 4-3, kind of deals ...

And is there a trade commission? If so, they really just need to catch up with myself and/or Hedberg16 to find out how the deal came together, as we both got exactly the player we wanted ...

Your trade is alright. Equal players denoted quantity, as you mention. The trade will go through.

Well the quality in that deal is way lop-sided. We shouldn't even allow trades because then it brings players outside the division in. It takes away from a GMs drafting skills and let's him ripoff another GM if/when he finds someone to bite.

I agree with easton on this. It may be a 1 on 1 player but Shadow, IMO, meant, players of equal value, not of quantity. Cause Guerin>>>>>Phaneuf right now.

GMs can do what they want. Trades are allowed since the beginning and we won't change the rules, and we won't make up a trade commission, it would be too much trouble for nothing. Dion Phaneuf is a real good defenseman, I agree maybe he's not worth Guerin right now but GMs can build a young team if they want.

And I know what Shadow meant. He meant quantity, believe me. I have a PM of all the rules and it's clearly stated that it must be 1 vs 1, 2 vs 2, etc.

I know Shadow meant quantity. However, he should APPROVE deals because if you have a buddy in this draft he could give you Forsberg for Madden.

Phaneuf may be a great prospect but the kid hasn't played 1 NHL game and has only played a few if even in the AHL. Guerin scored like 35 goals last season and lead the Stars in points.

IMO, Shadow meant equal players in quantity and quality. But this trade is just too lopsided to be fair.

Guerin and Phaneuf arent even in the same league of quality right now. Id understand a Guerin-Kariya trade (its closer than this one) but Phaneuf and Guerin are too far apart.

I think Shadow will have the final word though.

I'm sure his buddy would take the time to draft 22 players just to trade them and make him a better team. Right.

You guys are taking it way too seriously. Nothing in the rules state that trades should be denied because it is unfair. GMs can draft who they want and trade who they want. Should we ask them to change their pick if we judge he chosed a crappy player?

Will you stop whining? Why do you think it's so important? Is it the end of the world if he has a better team than you? I mean come on.

Its not the end of the world, its just annoying.

But I still think I can assemble a better team and will win .

Ok, now this is worth commenting upon.

Collusion between GM's in a fantasy draft is, of course, one of the few things that can really ruin a draft, for everyone involved. Let me assure everyone, however, that I have only just made the acquaintance of Hedberg16, and there was/is nothing sinister afoot here. I asked for Guerin, and he asked for Phaneuf. I would hope that both of us would merit the benefit of the doubt.

As to the players involved, consider: Phaneuf is a top-shelf, up and coming, complete package d-man, who played (and well) throughout the entire 2004-2005 hockey season. Guerin is a 34 year old vet who took the '04-'05 season off, and who couldn't garner a bite for the Stars around the trade deadline in '04. Sure, Guerin is "proven," and Phaneuf is a "prospect" -- or, conversely, Phaneuf is on his way up, and Guerin, the opposite.

Now, since I agreed to the deal, it's obvious that I would rather have Guerin (picked 21st overall in the Pacific draft) on my team than Phaneuf (picked 27th overall in the Northwest draft) -- but it had more to do with the fact that I had 3 D and no RW, than anything else. And while I will not presume to speak on behalf of the other party involved, I would hope that if and when Hedberg16 decides to weigh in on this matter, that will be that (one way or the other).
