Hahaha. He's got negative value and will be bought out. Horcoff is not worth more than 1.5 million.

I think you misunderstood my post completely. Either that or you don't realize that if Horcoff simply wants out of Edmonton, he can just waive his NTC in general. There is no clause saying that he has to give a 10 team list and under no circumstances will he be traded to any other team. If Horcoff wants out of Edmonton, and knows that a buy out isn`t happening under any circumstances, I believe he will waive his NTC to go anywhere where he is wanted rather than stay with a team who doesn`t want him for another year.

Why not? Look at what other good third line centers make. Horcoff is still a good third line center, his ridiculous contract has made him very underrated.

You kidding? I don't touch that offer with a ten foot poll. Letang is like throwing a hand grenade in our zone. We have Justin Schultz, who at this point in his career is 10 times the player Letang will ever be, gosh. Hemsky's the new Ovechkin.

Maybe Hemsky for Letang and Crosby, I'd consider. I mean Crosby is only what, a top 9 centre? We can slot him in the hole created by Horcoff leaving.

(BTW, Pittsburgh, )

One question I have and maybe some Oiler fans can help me out? If you trade Horcoff whos going to win a faceoff for this team? I know he makes alot of money and isnt worth that and he probably needs to go but the Oilers werent a very good faceoff team to begin with.

I'd be shocked if anyone traded anything for Horcoff. In fact I'd be shocked if anyone even picked him up off waivers.

Hemsky I can see teams taking a chance on, but the return would probably be a mid level prospect and a pick.

Ottawa might be interested in Hemsky, what would the oilers want?

MacT is looking to make a bunch of moves. Hopefully we can get a replacement for Horcoff with Hemsky for third line center, and then I think we have to sign someone for 4th line center, and I really hope both are faceoff aces.

Who are your bottom six centers?

Ideally for me, I would want either a very good 3rd line center, or a decent 3rd/4th line center and another bottom six forward (or an AHL'er who can step up and play bottom six in the NHL). Keeping in mind that the center must be good at faceoffs and any players we get for Hemsky need to play with an edge.

Horcoff has sold his EDM home. Does not submit 10-team list til July 1. Participating in trade process with MacTavish from Michigan home.

Hall, easy choice. I think the biggest reason for Horcoff moving on is that the team wanted the "C" on Hall.

I can see someone paying him a max of 1.5 million (after buyout). Otherwise the oil would have to absorb the max amount of his salary to stimulate a trade. Thus why bother?

That's what perplexes me. I can understand Hemsky being moved as he's worthless (imho) but the Oilers played so much better after Horcoff returned because he does the "little things" other guys dont do. On one side they say they want to bring in some vets, character guys, etc... and in the next breathe they want to move Horcoff. Doesnt make a lot of sense.

Hemsky with 50% of contract retained

Ok guys, for the last time. There's gotta be a team willing to take a chance on him. Especially if let's say the Oilers in fact retain most of his salary. I believe a decent prospect and 2nd rounder seems fair?

The Oilers are not going to retain half his salary just to get rid of him. They'll get a 2nd round pick and a mid level prospect for him no problem if they want to move him.

Think of teams that need scoring that don't have to worry about cap issues. Columbus, Florida, Dallas, etc.

Also, if they cannot get anything for him they'll buy him out and save the cap space before retaining half of it.

The Oilers need vets and character guys who can still play hockey. 4th line center Horcoff could easily be replaced with someone much cheaper, and I'm really questioning what kind of character Horcoff really brings to the team at this point.

I wouldn't mind the Preds getting Hemsky. Gaustad for him, to fill the void left by Horcoff?

This is one of the logical trade idea's a few of us thought of on the Oilers board.

Seems like need for need.
