We're no longer the only team swept anymore! Moral victory.

You have to figure bylsmas job is in jeopardy after this. He's making all the same mistakes that AV has with our team.

Assuming that most Canuck fans here are... were... cheering for Pittsburgh, there is a silver lining here to consider.

The Cup favourites at the start of the playoffs just got swept by the team the Leafs had on the ropes... if it were not for their epic and historical meltdown.

It must just be killing Leaf fans inside.

and after the leafs showed the rest of the league what to do against Boston, their next two opponents proceeded to completely ignore that formula

That Chara belly flop, no look save was tremendous. He then got kneed in the head hard for his efforts. Great minute of drama if nothing else from this series.

What a shocking no-show by a team whose traditional strength has been offense. They can't blame Vokoun for this series.

Gotta make you feel a bit better about Vancouver. I mean, if the refs can assist Boston in beating up , obstructing and stifling the Pens, then no one has any hope.

I wouldn't go that far. Crosby, Malkin (excluding games three and four), Letang, Fleury, Oprik, Iglina and so on just sucked. Letang in particular was god awful. Bylasma may have some issues but this was not a coaching failure.

Ugh. When the ice is that bad, when the verb that best suits the winning team is "clogs" and there are so many penalties every shift that the refs have become almost completely desensitized - this adds up to terrible hockey, imo.

The Bruins have enough legit firepower that they still provide entertainment. I'm more concerned about all the middle of the pack teams with less talent that will emulate this model. Get big players, collapse in front of the goalie, clog the neutral zone, commit so many infractions the ref can't call them all. It's time to make the ice surface bigger, it's time to get consistent with the officiating. This league is turning into "may the best bully win." Hell, it's not even like that in football, and those guys are 300 pounds.

I agree. He also had an inferior d-core to work with, and a superior forward group, but what happened to the Nucks and what happened to the Pens against the Bruins is eerily similar.

Doesn't look good for the Hawks.

It's a new league boys. This might just be the last gasp for offensive breakout teams.

If the penguins had any luck at all this series would be 2-2 at least.

not that much, at least the Canucks put up good efforts on home ice. penguins got chased out of their own building

Look at the Bruins injury list....almost non-existent and when they had Seidenberg got injured, they almost blew a 3-1 lead

The difference was that we were prepared to play the Bruins' game from the get-go. The Pens seemed resigned to their unstructured breakout without any puck support for the first 2 games.

Seems like 99% of Penguin fans want him gone. As we know from first hand experience, it can certainly increase the pressure on ownership to make a move.

Would be interesting to see who the Penguins would go after for their head coach position, maybe AV?

I know the Pens had some interest in AV before they hired Therrien in 2005.

By the time Gillis is done building his Boston clone, the NHL will have reverted back to a fast-paced league.
