Yeah, now Hertl is the Van announcers Public Enemy #1. "He was seeing red! He was seeing red!"

eh, hertl couldve been smarter there. though i wonder if they only gave the canuck player a penalty to even it out.

didnt seem like they were gonna call it at first. (on the canuck skater)

result doesnt matter so much, i liked what i saw from quite a few people.

as jux stated 1 million times, tierney is real good. i didnt realize how tall he was either, hopefully he grows into that frame.

boudreau can be a serious threat with some work, mainly strength. he just has that offensive pop that you hope can develop into something really nice.

i though nieto was as advertised-2 way winger with some offense. no complaints.

blue line was good, didnt see a lot of jensens mistakes due to lagging feed.

im intrigued by padulo, thought he had a solid showing today and hope he improves on that.

The most surprising player for me tonight was Bigos. Good defensively, on the PP, jumping up into the play.

Most of the players showed pretty much what I expected from them, saw some flashes of good from a few players (Nieto, Hayes, Schwartz, Hertl, Boudreau) but I thought Abeltshauser was probably the best Shark on the ice.

Tierney was good but he can be much better. He's going to need to continue to gain strength to get to the next level.

It's pretty apparent to me that Hertl is going to need time to adjust to the NA game, everything seemed a bit too 'fast' for him.

I loved Tierney, and I really liked Hertl, Abeltshauser (particularly the 3rd period), Bigos, Bouliard (I butchered that spelling, I know), and Hayes. Nieto, Schwartz, and Boudreau showed good flashers. Nieto was just really solid all night. Boudreau got much better as the night went on, but he needs to work on his strength, particularly his strength on his skates. His skating looked like Taco Torrey out there, he spend at least 10 full minute son his ass.

I didn't watch but I gotta say I was very disappointed with Hertl's play.

Who needs to watch - I'd say you're not totally wrong here

lol about naming Brace, I meant Crane. He wasn't really noticeable as the game went on though. But earlier on he was really intense.

i honestly wasnt expect hertl to do much. the NA game is indeed faster, lots of up and down, less east/west. but once you get him in the zone with the puck hes strong with it and can keep the play alive.

i gotta get to know the numbers better so i can pay attention to some of the other skaters, i see a lot of 80 numbers and i dont know who im looking at half the time lol.

i fully expect hertl to show later in this tournament, guys like nieto/tierney are very used to this type of play, just another game for them.

Yeah, I've definitely seen Hertl play eons better. Still, the talent there was obvious.

Canucks announcers indicated that Friday's game WILL be broadcast on sjsharks.com/live

Now, to see who will be announcing/broadcasting. (I know that former Oiler affiliate ECHL broadcaster Mike Benton has been tweeting about tournament; wonder if the Sharks might tap him for duty. He's now with ECHL Alaska.)

Watching the game on my laptop.....

Bigos and Abeltshauser looked the most comfortable.
Crane and Tierney did good things out there, Tierney is taller than I thought.
We have some guys who will wind up and shoot from the point, that's promising.
It was kind of neat watching an Iafrate nailing the puck again.
Pretty much a game where nobody knows each other out there. It'll get better.

Any word on Mueller?? It looked just before he was hit, he twisted his right ankle backwards.

You're the second person who has said that, he's about 6-6'1 - how tall did people think he was??

Stalock,
For reasons I can't explain, I thought he was 5'9" or 5'10"

Incase you want a preview of your enemy:
http://www.arcticicehockey.com/2013/...tars-penticton

The predicted lines are off as it seems they want to try Lowry out at C and I believe Lodge still hasn't been cleared for games yet.
It also looks like Ivan Telegin has been cleared to play and will likely be on the Jets top line LW.

My best guess would be:

Telegin – Scheifele – Lipon
Theoret – Lowry - Petan
Blomqvist – Olsen – Kosmachuk
Dupuy – Sutter – Brassard
13th: Verrier

Morrissey – Trouba
Sol – Kichton
Stanton – Kostalek
7th: Bell

Olkinuora
Commie

I hope the Jets go with a top PP unit of Lowry/Sheifele/Lipon/Morrissey/Trouba, that'll be something to watch!

Mentioning his height has never even crossed my mind. I don't consider 6', 6'1 to be tall and that's what he's consistently listed at.

i dont see why you wouldnt. a quick google search shows that san jose has one of the tallest teams at 74 inches which is around 6'1 ish. meaning he is above the average height for the other 29 teams.

Not real sure what team averages have to do with an individual considering there are players ranging from 5'6 to 6'9.

6' is pretty average size for an NHLer.
