Price might be almost as good if he had enough diapers for each game

He didn't :/

Price was amongst the favorite to be nominated for the Vezina for most of the season, I hardly call a month of average performance getting smoked after playing most of the season like a top keeper in the league.

Rask.

Price is uber talented, but shown to lack mental toughness.

Though Rask has had his blow ups, all were post game, he is showing now he has the mental resolve that Price does not.

And didn't become what he thought he would? Well he certainly didn't expect him to play injured the last stretch of the season. And if you think Rask's career SV% will stay at .927 when he starts playing an actual starter's workload you're dreaming.
Maybe true, not for certain, will it drop to Carey Price territory? Fairly significant drop, I think it's unlikely. Will it drop all the way to Carey Price playoff territory? Certainly not.

Maybe favored by Habs fans, but that was the limit.

Rask was undoubtedly better than him. He was just on a different level and it wasn't really close.

Consider he's played less than half as many games as Price it's certainly very possible. Who knows how he'll do playing over 70 games in a season?

You're also assuming Price's numbers never go up which is unlikely.

Weren't you also assuming Rask's number will go down?

Unless he's by far the best goalie in the league, they will.

Career SV%:

Lundqvist - .920
Luongo - .919
Rinne - .919
Hiller - .917
Quick- .915
Price - .915
Miller - .915
Brodeur - .913
Etc.

I'm not necessarily disagreeing, but by the same logic, what did Price show that makes you think his number will go up?

Because stats certainly don't back you up.

Price was dealing with nagging injuries for the later portion of this year. His SV% was over his career average until around the time we clinched and then his SV% dropped dramatically.

I believe the ~150 games over the past 3 years are more indicative of the ~10 games after his injuries.

Amongst the favorite by the HF faithful? Not even close haha. You guys yourselves had a like two or three part thread calling him out on his lackluster play haha. Of course that ridiculous coaches poll he was listed as the Vezina favorite, but a Habs player was a finalist for practically every award there haha so thats just ******** as is.

Considering Rask lead the league in save percentage for almost the entire year (besides Anderson who was on IR all year), and Price wasn't even near the top in ANY (positive) statistical category, you are living in fantasy land

rask's movement is best in league. Because of that he's mostly in perfect position and make saves look too easy. He was great back in 2010 already.

Carey Price, still Rask should make things interesting over the next little while.

Goalie's job is to be consistent, you can take lundqvist part of poll any part of year and he will do great.

It's worth noting that while Carey Price has never played less than 39 games in a season in his career, Tuukka Rask has only played more than 39 games in a season once in his career. Rask's stats certainly look better at first glance, but can he shoulder a 60-70 game workload the same way Price can? As a Leafs fan, I know that this is the same question a lot of people ask about Reimer, and it's certainly a valid one.

that just wrong logic most people picked price because rask hasn't proven he is a top goaltender but now with how dominant he has been and is in the finals it's time for people to realize rask is the right choice here.

Rask gets to play in front of one of the best defensive team around, I think his stats are a bit inflated.

I'd probably have to pick him anyway, but I think it's very close.

Rask will be a consistent top 5 goalie. Price will be around 5-7 in his career, maybe an occasional big season where hes top 3.

Wait, what? One guy carries his team to the cup finals but he still has to prove....forget it

You're confused. I was speaking about durability. Price has shown that he is capable of being a workhorse goaltender and playing 60-70 games a season. Rask has yet to prove that he can shoulder such a heavy workload. It doesn't mean he can't, it just means that he hasn't yet. My comment had nothing to do with the playoffs.
