2004 Post Season

So if you're like me, and are really missing flyer hockey, you've been checking out highlights of last year's playoff run. A couple of things I noticed that almost skipped my mind with the lack of NHL action lately.

1. Primeau scored some mind blowing goals
2. Gagné played a huge part in last year's run.
3. Esche was fantastic
4. The Wachovia Center is electric
5. John Leclair, is indeed a scrap

Im telling you, watching the highlights against Tampa game 6 almost brings tears to my eyes. It truly was a finish to remember.

Last year was truly a memorable run. All 3 series wher awesome in their own right.
We seem to overlook the fact that we demolished the Debs! We really could have swept them.

My how things have changed.Flyer fans saying what a great run they had.It was the lowly Lightning you lost to.At least it was the CUP champs.Too bad the Flyers are too old to make another run.

The Flyers are not an old team. LeClair, Amonte, Burke, Recchi, Ragnarsson, Malakhov and possibly Desjardins will all be gone when play resumes. If you havent noticed, our farm team is poised to go to the Calder Cup finals with a roster stacked with NHL ready talent (Sharp, Carter, Richards, Pitkanen, Umberger, Nittymaki, Seidenberg). Not only that, we even have room under most proposed caps, an advantage over most other contenders if we need to sign a free agent or make a trade.

The Future is bright, and we will be contending for years to come. Nice try Troll, go back to the Leafs board or wherever you came from.

Dude, get yourself a life. As long as Hitch is at the helm, we will compete every year. He's won a cup with Dallas which was just as old if not older than us.
And the Flyers, unlike many other teams, find a way to get their prospects in the lineup and chip in to boot. We've had underachievers on other teams (Timander, Malakhov, Kapanen, Lapointe, etc.) come in and do an awesome job for us when it counted. As long as everyone gets a role, it's a recipe for success.

I wouldn't call Kapanen an underachiver. His style play had changed from his 20 goal a season days and he wasn't being used properly. Maybe you meant Zhamnov?

Players on roster who are not rookies = Roenick, Primeau, Gagne, Markov, Kapanen, Esche, Knuble, Stevenson, Handzus, Johnsson, Brashear, Radivojevic

Young Players with NHL experience (no longer considered rookies)= Pitkanen, Sharp, Seidenberg

Rookies likely to make roster = Carter, Richards, Nittymakii

That is not an old team, or a team full of unproven rookies. We have one, possibly two spots open on D, but we have salary room and lots of assets to deal. We also have quite a few depth guys waiting on the Phantoms who could easily play in the NHL if necessary (Fedoruk, Slaney, Tmmander, Umberger, Eager).

What teams in the East are there that are so head and shoulders above that roster that the Flyers have no chance of Competing? Lightning are probably better (though Martin St Louis is a FA), Sens are roughly equal (if only they had a goalie they would dominate) and then who's left? Devils? Leafs? Rangers? Boston? Montreal? Please. All these teams have serious gaping holes in their rosters. All will be hitting the FA market with limited cap room.

****, why am I wasting my time arguing with a troll?

The Senators have Hasek. Of course he's 82 and has a dryer sheet holding his groin together.

2001
2002
2004

Don't talk to us about not being able to make a run.

Yeah, losing to the Cup winners by a goal in Game 7 of the Conference Finals is the textbook definition of mediocrity.

No more St Louis (you cant afford him anymore as a UFA), no Andreychuk, Khabibulin getting older, no more high draft picks for a while, and a GM that is going to be hugging the floor of any proposed cap system. Yeah, the Bolts (your team judging from your other posts) are going to be winnning a bunch of cups. Enjoy this year, because your team is quickly going to return to perrennial bottom feeder before you know it. The Flyers are adding three top prospects to our roster, the Bolts are adding crap minor leaguers as replacements.

There is a very good chance that both St. Louis and Khabibulin will be UFA's.

Serious question. Were you this big of a Bolts fan back when they had Darren Puppa and Brian Bradley leading the team?
