I hate the 'get them experience' argument. Maybe in the regular season, but the only thing that matters in the playoffs for lineup decisions is 'does this lineup' and 'does this guy playing' give the team the best chance at winning that game.

Now, Bylsma failed in many areas in that criteria too, but getting a player experience for the future shouldn't be part of the criteria in the playoffs.

Whether Bylsma is a good coach or not, they pens have underperformed the roster in the playoffs and that has to be the line for Shero and the brass.

You would think he would be a tad more grateful to Vokoun, since he saved him a guaranteed firing after the 1st rd. What a loser

But it's Bylsma CREATING THAT CRITERIA, not the fans. He wants to play players with experience. I don't care about experience, I care about skill. The coach cares about experience. If he wanted those players to have experience for the playoffs, and he believes they are top-4/top-6, then he should have gotten them game experience in the regular season so that he was more comfortable with them in the playoffs.

Fair enough. We got destroyed in both creases.

Interesting, even ESPNowedon'tdohockey is wondering if Bylsma will be back:

Quote:
That there will be change to this organization is inevitable. How great those changes will be will mark an important off-season storyline that could have ripple effects across the NHL.

It's unknown, for instance, whether head coach Dan Bylsma will return. GM Ray Shero did not speak to the media on Sunday and Bylsma said he has not spoken to Shero about his future.http://espn.go.com/nhl/playoffs/2013.../_/id/9358355?
And why is Shero's presser scheduled for the first day of the finals? That's odd timing.

Again, I still don't know what happened to our cycle and offensive zone domination. I think in 4 games we had like 2 or 3 good, prolonged cycles. WTF happened to it? Is it the coaching, players, system, all of the above?

takes more than one player to crash the crease. really, it should have been a team mindset going in to the series. like someone said here, you lay it all on the line in the playoffs. noone had the balls to stand in front of rask and take the abuse from boston's d. not the only reason we lost, but i bet we could have scored more than two goals.

I think the number was 5. FIVE total rebound shots on Rask... nice net front presence... same lineup for 4 games straight.

so sad...

It was because we played the same system and same chip in stuff and didn't adjust.

Canada Hockey shows had some great segments on it and some great video. Basically, the Bruins switched to a deep trap that slid directly into 4-box 1 high...

Think about that ... we continually chip it in:

a. We have 2 guys max vs. 4
b. We have 1 guy in vs. 2-3

They showed numerous videos where the puck should have been carried in but WE RUSH RUSH RUSH... MUST SCORE GOALS GOALS GOALS....

Literally nothing was done. They showed Game 1, 2, 3, 4. Same thing every ****ing time. The analyst even said, "If DB get fired, this is the reason why..."

Shero was probably meeting with the organizational execs, and they're all trying to suss out what to do. Meloche going was probably step 1. They've got a few days before Wednesday, so they can decide if firing Bylsma's a good call and whether Fleury is shoppable. Then Shero can pick up the pieces at the press conference on Wednesday.

Hopefully, he's getting Mario's boot surgically removed... this performance, our entire draft, our prospects... all for a standard DB post-season flame out.

Makes you wonder what would have happened had we didn't add all those passengers.

Morrow should have at least seen time on the PP. Murray's issue is he can't skate with top lines 5 on 5. Though it was a bigger issue at the other end. None of our top 9 forwards can park in the crease worth a damn.

After they see Bylsma's press conference, the decision to fire him shouldn't be hard. The dude looks drunk.

I feel sorry for Shero. It's now the offseason, players are off golfing or vacationing and Shero's working hard at office to fix this mess. Ohwell, that's what he's paid to do. Then again Pens are paid to score goals and defend and we didn't see that.
