Franchise Player Poll: #10 Dallas

1) You are voting for the franchise player who will receive a 4 year, 24 million dollar "franchise player" contract. Everyone else will be a UFA, including prospects so who you don't vote for will be on sale to the highest bidder. This WILL NOT count against the cap and the player can not be traded.

2) Player will play all 82 games for that 4 year span and goalies will start 65+ games a season. Basically the player will be immune to injury for 4 years.

Anaheim: JS Giguere (49%)
Atlanta: Ilya Kovalchuk (64%)
Boston: Joe Thornton (95%)
Buffalo: Thomas Vanek (40%)
Calgary: Jarome Iginla (92%)
Carolina: Eric Staal (81%)
Chicago: Tuomo Ruutu (92%)
Colorado: Peter Forsberg (48%)
Columbus: Rick Nash (89%)

Marty Turco, one of the most underrated goalies in hockey.

Turco. Most deserving of the status. Modano's past his prime. $6 million/year would be a pay cut for Guerin. I love Morrow, I think he should be the Stars captain, but he's never going to be an elite player. The prospects are slim pickings. Some good players, but nobody who will be an impact player.

I've had the utmost respect for Modano, but his best days are clearly in the rearview mirror (14G, 44pts last year). Guerin is still scoring alot of goals, but I worry about his age and where he'll be a couple of years in the 4 year contract. Therefore, my vote has to go to Turco

have to go with Turco

Modano's age and apparent decline doesn't allow me to give him 6 M a year for 4 years...

My heart wants to give it to Modano because he's been the Franchise player there for 15 years but he's too old so I give it to Turco.

Lehtinen is miles ahead of Guerin and Morrow..

That said, Modano.

I was going to say the same, but then I thought that it may sound like I'm a homer.. Now that you said it, I agree completely.

And I said Turco.

Modano's decline last season would make me take Turco.

When deciding the 3 forwards, Lehtinen was among the ones I was deciding between but I thought more people would pick guys like Guerin and Morrow (power-forward types) than Lehtinen. I didn't forget about him, just didn't think he'd get many votes.

What's surprising me about these polls is that d-men aren't getting many votes. I thought there might be at least one vote for guys like Zubov and Blake in one of the polls.
