Malkin/Pronger is a tossup. The rest don't even belong in the poll.

Staal and Spezza over Shanahan? I would have Shanahan as third on my list.

Pronger is still one of the best defenseman in NHL history but still the numbers Malkin has put up in 7 seasons and will continue to put up are just crazy.
Seriously?

Point totals a re the absolute LAST thing you should be using to compare these two. You are comparing point totals between a shutdown physical defensemen and an offense-first top line scorer... you don't think that's a little ridiculous?

I'll go off the board and say Drew Doughty. Guy just continues to get better and he's elite in every aspect at such a young age, It'll be interesting to see how good his prime will be.

Right now it is Pronger, so I voted him. But I could see Malkin eventually passing him

Uh Spezza and Staal over Sedin? Why? Has Spezza or Staal won a Art Ross or Ted Lindsay? Have they scored at a 75+ point pace for 7 years? The answer is no. Hilarious how underrated the Sedins' are.

Spezza is over a PPG player and has been over his career.
Has he scored at a 75+ point pace for 7 years? Yes, except for 2008-2009 where he put up 73. If you want to discredit that for some reason, then Sedin put up 74 in 2007-2008 and wasn't close to that pace this season.

Has Sedin won a cup? No, but Staal has. Staals career PPG is 74.5, which is better then Sedins 68.6.

While I agree the Sedins are underrated, it isn't ridiculous to have Spezza and Staal above them.

Typical HF response. Staal won a cup in 2006 thus making him better. Lets ignore the fact Daniel Sedin outscored Staal in 6 of the last 7 years. Sedin also would have 2 100 point seasons if not for an injury in 2010. So because Sedin lost in game 7 of the finals Staal is better?

Fact is Sedin has scored over 70 points 7 times, while also having an Art Ross to his name. A cup is a team achievement while a Art Roas is an individual one. Sedin led his team in points and to game 7 of the finals, but just because he didn't win that game Staal is better? I see no reason why 1 game should alter who the better player is. If a cup means everything I guess Collin Fraser is better than Alex Ovechkin.

Also career average is a idiotic way to argue against the Sedins' they clearly started becoming dominant players after the lockout since them they've scorer at a near PPG pace.

Pronger and Malkin are close. Barring big injuries Malkin should finish ahead, but for now I still pick Pronger.

Exactly. 100% with you there.

Pronger was such an amazing player, the definition of a great hockey player imo.

If Malkin dominates like he does now for ten more years then him, but for now, Pronger.
