Oilers' First Rounder

Oilers need to start winning now, meaning we need now players.

What would it fetch alone?

What can it get if put in a package with PRV or Gags?

Would be willing to offer a package involving Hodgson and Miller.

So not enough. And this isn't a bad offer either. Just not enough.

I'm about to get the heat from other Dallas fans but I'd be willing to offer from
Dallas : Eriksson for,
Edmonton: 7th overall pick + 37th overall

There is room to toss in one of Goligoski/Daley/ Robidas for a center coming our way

Now that Eakins will be coaching Edmonton...

7th overall for Jake Gardiner

Toronto gets Lindholm/Monahan

Edmonton gets a pairing with instant chemistry.

That's ok because DR would never offer that. If MacT were offered a 23 year old top 6 center and a top 15 goalie for 7th overall he takes it without hesitation, the guy at #7 is no slam dunk to be better than Hodgson even.

As a Stars fan, I'd offer any combo of Daley, Goligoski, Robidas, and Cole, (or anyone not named Benn, Dillon, or Eakin), Boston's 1st and both 2nds for Gagner and the 7th. I know quantity doesn't get you quality, but Goligoski and Daley definitely aren't bad pieces, and those picks are pretty valuable given the depth of this draft. Oilers fans, flame away.

Edit: Most prospects would be available as well, just not Chiasson or Oleksiak. I think I'd be ok with dealing most others.

Maybe Hodgson lacks the size they are looking for at center, but they would be doing well if the 7th pick turned out as productive as him.

Hodgson and Miller gets you more than a pick.

Agreed.

Even though it's a buyer's market for goalies, that deal makes the Oilers a lot better immediately. I'm sure Edmonton would have to add a player just to balance the salaries.

Wow, you want Gagner and #7, but you won't move Eriksson, Benn, Dilon, Eakin, Chiasson, Oleksiak, Ritche, Morrow, or Faksa. Generous one, you are.

Seriously, Cody Eakin is untouchable in a trade for Gagner and 7th overall?

So basically we trade Gagner + the 7th overall pick for nothing?

Hodgson is worth the 7th pick no doubt but he is what Edmonton does not need so its a no.

Toronto fans hate you right now. Not because you're undervaluing Gardiner either

Say what? The oilers would be stupid to turn that down.

It wasn't a critique on the quality of the pieces, they are good, just not the right type. We need centers going forward, but bigger, more responsible two way centers are ideal. We could also use a new starting goalie according to some, but I don't think Miller would be happy here, nor do I think he will be here long, he'll run after his contract is up I am sure.

If it was EA Sports, yes they would. But as I mentioned, its not the quality, its the type of pieces offered that is the issue.

So you're gonna give away experienced and good players for a bag of risk? (That have potential to be busts?)

Miller seriously needs a Snickers bar way too often for my liking. Plus not worth much for a season at 6.25 million for either assets mentioned.
Hodgson isn't going to play ahead of Gagner or RNH, and the Oilers are weak at LW

Exactly this. What use do the oilers have for Hodgson or Miller?

The answer is none.
