I would love to get him at 22 and get Morin at 28 and get a couple of huge guys that can add a physical element we desperately need if we want to win the cup.

I think we should try to be a competitive team again first.

The goal should always be the Cup. Getting competitive should be no more than a step to get there.

I don't want a competitive team I want the best team and those 2 players fill the roles that top teams need.

I never said the goal wasnt the cup? All I'm saying is I don't think our roster is a few pieces away from being a cup team. We still got a long way to go. Suggesting some size makes a cup team is absurd.

I never said they put this current team over the top I said we need players like them to become a team that wins the cup,

Fair enough. We certainly do need size but I believe we need skill to a greater degree. Our prospect pool is full of 3rd liners or average second liners. We need more puck moving defenseman and pure snipers/playmakers. Easier said than done, yes.

Gauthier is very talented he is very underrated and why I have been loving seeing him ranked around 20, as Abb Heat said if it wasn't for his broken jaw he most likely would be a top 10 pick and in most years could push into the top 5. Morin is getting lots of attention as his mean streak comes out, he could become a very physical #2 defenseman. But unlike most guys in this draft they are huge and talented, I believe Morin could be a better version of Regehr and I think they could be the perfect franchise role players.

Gauthier certainly seems like our guy at 22 but I doubt he'll be available. He has everything needed to make a centerman really attractive. If he isn't there, I'd pick Morrissey but I also like Compher and Rychel a lot.

I'd strongly consider sacrificing an asset to move up and pick Gauthier around 14-17. I could see the Jackets, Islanders or Sens moving their picks, seeing as they're trying to improve likely playoff bubble rosters for next year, or the Wild as they look to sharpen their "stacked" team.

Just wondering but didn't Gauthier slow down greatly near the end of the season? Was it because of the broken Jaw?

For the purpose of this mock, I can't imagine he gets by 25. Lots of Hartman fans on the Habs board.

He did slow down a bit but he has been a huge riser this year. Last year he was seen to be ranked around 30th, by November ISS had him at 26, by December he was up to 22, he had the broken jaw and ended up at 18. I personally think he is going to be a big deal in the nhl.

I think he will have a very good impact too. I'm not even sure I can think of a comparable player because he has such a unique combination of skills. Maybe Jordan Staal with less offense and more size?

I think Petan will be a lot like Gagner, weak at center and defense but a very talented offensive player.

I am hoping he is there at 22 as I really want Morin at 28 so I don't want to trade up.

How many 5"9' centers are there in the NHL?
If Petan plays in the NHL at some point, you would have to think it would be as more of a winger.

I like that we pick again in 6 and there are at least 7 big names (imo) still on the board that could have been taken at this pick.
