Was-Cgy

Capitals trade the rights to Ribiero, Jeff Shultz and Michael Neuvirth to Cgy for the Pittsburgh 1st rounder obtained in the Iginla trade and a 4th rounder in next years draft. Ribiero could bridge the gap till a legitimate #1 center can be developed in Calgary. Shultz is a Cgy native looking for a new start and Michael Neuvirth won 27 games as a rookie in Bruce Boudreau"s run and gun system and would be a great heir apparent to Kipper. Washington gets cap relief to sign Alzner and Johanssen and the 1st rounder to help restock prospect pool. Thoughts?

I think the Flames pass.

I think we would want little to no part of Schultz
I don't think Ribeiro will sign with us
And we will likely be giving Ramo or Berra a shot with MacDonald as the plan B and Neuvirth just muddies the waters further.

If the Flames traded any of their first round picks to Washington, then any of your top prospects/young players would be of interest. Neuvirth would probably be of interest if the Flames did not already have too many goalies signed.

This is a huge pass, I would give you a 3rd for Schultz (cap dump) + Neuvirth

I agree we have to many goalies, and don't need neuvirth. I don't think ribeiro even if he would sign would be good for us.

I would do this deal if it was say Brossoit and the Pens 1st (If Ribeiro resigns)/CGY 3rd (if Ribeiro goes to FA), to be left with Holtby and Grubauer isn't that appealing for me

This really isn't going to happen we are rather high on Brossoit.

I wouldn't expect it to happen to be perfectly honest, and I can't really see Calgary having any need for Noovy, Schultz for a 7th?

Sure. I think Neuvirth is a decent goalie and would give him a shot but with Ramo and Berra coming over to fight for NHL jobs and Ortio coming back to the ahl there really isn't anymore to take a chance on a goalie.

The Flames pass? I'd imagine the Capitals would, too. Pittsburgh's pick will be #28 and Michal Neuvith is probably worth that, to be honest (Varlamov was worth a higher first and a 2nd round pick.

Michal Neuvirth has value. Would rather work out a deal for him with a team that needs, and is willing to pay for, a goalie. Someone like the Coyotes or Islanders.

This makes the most sense to me. Neuvirth has all the makings to be a solid NHL goaltender, but the Caps would definitely be better off shopping him to teams like the Isles, Coyotes or Flyers if they buyout Bryz.

If this was 30+ games into the season and Ramo & Berra are struggling then I wold be more interested in Neuvirth, but for now Ramo's potential to be a good starter would keep us on the outside for a while.

You don't get 1st round picks for unsigned players.

We're rebuilding and Brouwer was an RFA, not a UFA. I'd happily trade a 1st for guys like Rask, Pietrangelo, Stewart, Wheeler, Bogosian, Berglund, Kadri ect. Not for a UFA. Even premium UFA's rights get a 2nd, not a first.

Neuvirth is worth more than a late pick and a 4th.

Forgot we signed Neuvy. Anyway, late 1st for Neuvy is absolutely real. He has the same, if not more, value than Varly when we traded him.

No he doesn't he is 2 years older and has worse career numbers the only thing he has going for him is there aren't rumors he wants to go to the KHL.

There were
He doesn't have nearly the same injury history which was a big knock on Varly's value.
