I don't think Columbus would trade Fritsche or Klesla right now. A top line centre is a priority but I think you will see ...

- Fritsche given a shot on the 2nd line (share with Malhotra)
- Marchant permanantly on the 3rd line

and one of ...

- Columbus signs a UFA #1 centre
- Columbus trades their 1st or 2nd round pick in the next draft for a #1 centre (in a package)

I think Cassels' time in Columbus is done. He is a UFA and IMO they won;t re-sign him.

is demitra not a natural centre? maybe make a more serious fa offer for someone like him , I dont beleive their payroll is to high, but then again with players going to be getting smaller salaries how many will want to go to young teams that havent made the playoffs? Are there any more reasonable expectations for signing a centre than someone like demitra or the bigger names like him.??????

Demitra has been playing LW, but I doubt the move back to center would hurt him, at least not after 10-20 games or so. He might be enticed to center Nash and Zherdev/Vyborny. I know I would be if I were a #1 center.

If Columbus is moving Klesla, Fritsche and other assets, Joe Thornton better be coming back.
As someone already said, I'd roll the dice with UFAs (Demitra?) and continue to develop the talent in the system. Anyone worth trading for is going to be too expensive asset-wise for the CBJ.

I would do Cassels/3rd for Weight. I'd love that trade, but Cassels is going to be a UFA, I believe.

I'd like to see the CBJ really go after Allison ... offer him a fairly impressive,incentive-laden contract and see what happens. I wonder how many teams will be that interested in him, with all the health questions (I realize that he claims to be ready to go ...).

I like allison as well. incentive contract with bonuses would be great. he would also probably be alot cheaper than someone like demitra

Columbus is too early on in their development to be dealing picks and prospects for established veterans. Fritsche is untouchable unless his shoulders become liability again. Klesla isn't going anywhere because Management is DESPERATE to prove that their first rounders were the right pick (see: Leclaire)

I'd like to see Columbus roll the dice with Allison or Lindros. But, I don't think either would sign with the CBJ.
