Montreal and Buffalo don't seem like very good trade partners when Tyler Myers is the focal point of the deal.

moving Myers for anything short of maximum return is beyond idiotic on Buffalo's behalf, if Myers is committed to fitness this off-season he will regain his form.

It's pretty obvious why Myers has struggled so much the last few years, Buffalo has been trying to turn Myers into something he is not, he has focused on gaining weight which has severely hampered his mobility, this off-season his focus is on getting lean and gaining explosiveness again. Don't be surprised if he is in the top 10 for norris voting next season.
Understood. The only reason fans are asking is we all believe he is better than he has shown recently. I was curious as to what that cost would be from Ottawa. If Myers had performed to expectations he would be untouchable.

Ottawa love reclaimation projects. Most we regret but some, we luck out on.

I would bet he is still unless a team offers something you cannot refuse, not secondary assets

It would be very stupid for buffalo to give up on him now. No way. Can't wait to see what he's like at 26. Mobile 6'8 defensemen? yikes.

That's why we want to keep him, I also believe that he is better than the awful play he showed this year. We've seen him when he's on his game and it's nothing short of dominant, obviously he has problems developing that kind of consistency. He's already shown he has the abilities to perform as a #1 defenseman. He may never get there again, but we're willing to wait to see if he'll get back to that level. I want to see him as he matures and hopefully starts to take his career more seriously and grow into his body better.

We have no reason to trade him unless we're an upgrade on the blueline or an overpayment.

Myers is a very interesting case.
He score more in his NHL first season and it has declined significantly since.
His best season in OHL was 42 points and the following season, he did 48 points in NHL.

Just saying that 48 points may not represent his true offensive value.
Nor the 16 points pace he did last season.

He is only 23 years old, so his game will continue to progress for a few years.
Also trading a d-men like him after one bad year is certainly not good management of assets unless you are going for a cup run.
For now, he has 2nd TOI behind Erhoff and gets significant PK and PP.

Given history of Buffalo trades, I would expect them to look for a prospect of similar value. Maybe Pacioretty + 2nd.

Anyway, this will not happen. Buffalo is in rebuilding their defense not trading away their best prospect.

Nope, 90% of HF wants him on their team, so we're all on the same page, but all non-Buffalo fans will pretend he's not worth a lot.

Agreed. If we could get him for a decent return, he would be great to add to our team. Unfortunately, he would be too expensive to get and is not really the type of d-man we truly need. I do wonder how a pairing of Myers and Subban would look, though...

Ignoring for a moment whatever Montreal might offer in return, the prospect of Darcy Regier: 1) trading Myers at all; and 2) doing so to a division rival that his team will face 4-5 times per year seems like the longest of long-shots.

This thread is hilarious

Offer one of the worst proposals I've ever seen (DD + a 2nd? I honest to God started laughing) and then get mad when the offers are rejected. Too funny.

What about Beaulieu, Leblanc, and 34th overall 2013?
