This is really a fantastic deal. He is at 4 million dollar performance already. The concern and likely reason for this lower deal and Josi's signing of it is the injury concerns.

An Absolute steal in terms of dollar value and especially length of contract.

I was thrilled when I saw we signed him for 7 years, and ecstatic when I saw the numbers. Good day to be a Preds fan.

And with the number four pick in this years draft, the Nashville Predators select....Zachary Fucale.

Great contract way better then I expected.

I would commit Hari Kari if that went down ... Fucale is a late first round pick according to a couple of websites ... tbh I haven't been keeping up with the prospects this year, due to work ...

Seriously bonkers signing for you guys. Wow. Wings fans are sitting over here like, "please god don't let Filppula ask for too much money, the useless bum." You guys pulled through HARD on that one.

Poile isn't without his faults, but he should be elected US President for getting Josi on that contract. 4 million is fair RIGHT NOW. It's gonna look ridiculous when Josi is in his prime. That's the key. The contract takes him into his prime when he'll be worth more than that hit. It's brilliant.

I highly recommend everyone stays away from the main board thread about this to retain sanity. 90% of posters are congratulating us, but a few have said they've never heard of Josi and some are talking about how bad of a deal it is. *sigh*

Gorgeous contract. Won't hurt the cap either if he doesn't turn into what some of us think he can be. 7 more years of Josi, Lovin it.

I was kind of hoping that poile tacked on another half a million dollars to the end of the contract and another year

As long as $ plays in the NHL he is the #1 enemy for me. I know it's not rational but hey I'm a sports fan.

Josi not only is going to be a good player here, he wanted to be here as well. I love it.

I hope this signing sways any guys we are interested in are way. You have Weber, Peka, Josi, and Klien locked up for years on defense. If you wanted a chance to be on one of the best defensive teams in the league why would you not make Nashville an option.

Wilson, Forseberg, Barkov/Druin, Smith, Borque, Beck, Watson, and the two draft picks who did so well in the OHL... A lot to be excited about.

Probably some of the same people said that about Shea Weber about 5 or 6 years ago.
