There is so much wrong with that movie besides Lord Snow

if you can handle a London accent, I fully reccommend Luther. 3rd season just started and its fantastic. one of the best british shows on right now, alongside Sherlock

Idris Elba FTW.

BTW, if you're american and can't understand a london accent you have issues.

I can't stop reading it. It is very good. Gives off kind of an Ergo Proxy meets Kara no Kyokai vibe. I dig the illustration style too which I thought I would hate initially.

On a semi-related note, Sword Art Online wasnt nearly as bad as I figured it would be.

Sword art was a little, I dunno, cute and cliche for my taste, but was well done. The dialogue was good and it kept my interest until the end.

I told you SteinsGate was good. Next check out the Deadman Wonderland manga. It goes much farther than the anime, and its actually really good. I'm also reading Nanatsu no Taizai. I think that will be the next anime hit to come out. Very marketable, though somewhat cookie cutter.

I've been watching the **** out of anime lately. Watched some great series so far but "saving" steins gate for another day. I'm probably missing out, but can't wait to watch it soon enough.

People just don't know what they're missing when they dismiss anime as a whole. People also have to realize that watching 99% of anime dubbed is a severe handicap to the anime. Watch with subs! It changes the experience. The Japanese voice actors are so much better, and subs are never edited for US TV.

Anyway, SteinsGate is worth the wait. It was damn good.

I still maintain that the only good english dub anime was Digimon. Yes, I'm serious.

Saw Pacific Rim yesterday afternoon.

Overall... Decent pace, really your big summer blockbuster with giant robots fighting giant monsters. (See, transformers vs Godzilla). Acting was hit or really miss, storyline was predictable and "been there done that". The humor mostly was misplaced for my liking or just missed in general (specifically Ron Pearlman). In the end it was rather entertaining when it got to the robots fighting and that's why you go see this movie anyways.

6 out of 10

I missed the first show but dvr'd the second. Got about 10 minutes into it before I realized that the acting was unviversaly terrible and the show wasn't doing anything to draw me in or make me care about the characters. Deleted, taken off my season pass

Never seen an episode of it and can't say I ever plan to. Baccano was decent dubbed, and Durara was OK dubbed, but that's about it from my experience. 99% of dubs just suck.

The Impossible

Very emotional movie - B+

The special effects and CGI - very VERY convincing. Spectacular recreation of the water scenes and traumatic events. Tear jerker by all counts and some very rewarding moments as well. The fact it's a true story just makes it hit home even more. It did drag a little bit in some places but nonetheless a worthwhile watch and incredible job by Watts and McGregor not to mention some very solid jobs by the kids. 2 scenes just crushed me personally - the "call home" and the scene with 2 youngest boys seeing their brother yelling "LUCAS!!!". No spoiler there but when you see it you'll know why.

still maintain that the only reason more people don't watch anime is because they get a picture of the english versions of dragonball and naruto in their heads and assume that's what it's all like. reality couldn't be further from the truth.

Yup. Somthing I try to tell people is that saying you watch anime is like saying you watch TV. There are a plethora of genera out there. You can't judge it as a whole by the generally mediocre at best or childish anime's that for some reason become so popular here. The same way you cant say all TV sucks because of a few crappy popular shows (Jersey Shore, cough cough). Id say the majority of anime's are quite good. At least I've found the ratio of good to bad to be much more in favor of good than it is for American TV shows.
