Cole Cassels has impressed big time at the Canucks prospects tourney, looks poised for a big year.

Not sure it'll be enough for you Gens fans to get to the playoffs, just thought I'd let you guys know he's playing really good hockey.

This isn't the final roster but here is who is left on their official site:

Forwards:

Aidan Wallace
Owen McDade
Adam Lloyd
Justice Dundas
Bradley Latour
Matt Hore
Jake Harrison
Brian Hughes (OA)
Cole Cassels
Scott Laughton (away at Flyers camp)
Jacob Busch
Joe Manchurek
Hunter Smith
Michael Dal Colle
Sam Harding

Full time returnees from last year = 8

Defence:

Josh Brown (Panthers Camp)
Jiri Kuronen (Oilers Camp)
Will Petschenig
Chris Carlisle
Colin Suellentrop (OA)
Daniel Robertson
Stephen Desrocher
Mitchell Van Sompel

Full time returnees = 4

Goalies

Ken Appleby
Daniel Altshuller (Carolina Camp)

This team will definitely have some sandpaper to it but will lack some offence especially if Laughton doesn't return. On the backend with 4 returnees it looks like Van Sompel and Kuronen will fill the 2 vacant holes with Desrocher and Robertson filling in as needed. I could see Robertson being sent to JR A to get some ice time (maybe in Whitby?). The crease is a point of strength but Appleby needs to work on his consistency.

Only a couple more days until puck drop!

How has Desrochers looked so far?

He's been alright in camp...looks like he could be a player...He'll need to earn his minutes on the team as he'll need to outplay a 1st round pick and an import for ice time, pending all the returnees are playing up to par.

Picked up 4 out of 4 points. Two gutsy road wins and 2 straight GWG for Hunter Smith.

Of course a long way to go but a nice way out of the gate!

So are we most likely going to trade Laughton to a big cup contender at the deadline? I mean I like the guy, but if we can trade him and get some good prospects to keep this team going for a few more seasons, then I'm totally fine with that.

I'd love it if Laughton played tonight, and according to the Gens twitter account, he is. BUT, I seem to remember a 5 game suspension he received in one of the last couple games against Barrie last year. No?

Laughton will dominate for the Gens. Had 4 points in his 1st game.

Did the Rangers make another mistake trading Sterk. Spott never liked him and benched him every other game. Now he leads the league in scoring.

So Sterk has been a great addition, I've also liked how easy Harding and Vande Sompel have transitioned to the O

VandeSompel is deadly on the power play; could rack up the points

Ya he is very smart with his decision making, despite his size his skating and positioning makes up for it. Pretty much knew he would start his ohl career on the first power play unit.

Sterk has been a great addition! Van Sompel is going to be a good player. Already sick on the PP and isn't afraid to join in on a rush. Going to watch the Gennies take on the Greyhounds tonight. Should be a really good game.

Great game tonight for the Gennies. Dal Cole has been playing with so much more confidnece. The goal tending has been really solid as well. Appleby was playing great then left late in the second period. Not sure why he left but Altshuller came in and stood on his head as well. The greyhounds were all over the Gennies late in the game but Altshuller stood in there. Great game overall. Cassels with a nice top cheese goal to win in OT. Thought everybody played well.

Any news on vande Sompel. He was hit high by Bourne in Missy last night and skated off but didn't finish the game. Someone was rolled out on a stretcher after the game but not ID so not saying it was him or someone else. Just wondering - he played a good game last night.

Should be a good game tonight back at the GM centre. Emotions were running last night. Good fast game by both teams - Martin was the big difference for Missy.

Oshawa is really starting to separate themselves from the pack. The team is playing well. Nice to see the young guys stepping up. I feel Dal Colle will be selected in the top 10.

Great shootout win against Belleville last night. The third and fourth lines are really starting to step up. Great to see everybody contributing. Subban and Dal Cole both going to go in the top 10.
