Detroit's 18th overall

Ken Holland is a trade down madman.

Anyone got an offer?

The only thing Detroit wouldn't be looking for is an extra contract, or prospects.

Roster players, draft picks, sandwiches, etc.

While I understand not wanting to make that deal, Boyle's only on the books for one more year. Doesn't Detroit have tons of cap space? No need to talk about Boyle's contract like it's Brad Richards'.

Detroit can't afford the contract space for a player like Boyle.

Adding his contract, coupled with the assets to get him makes it a terrible idea.

You mean like the 50 contract limit? That's the kind of thing you just find a way to deal with if it's the only thing in the way of adding a player like Boyle.

Both.

Plus the assets it would take to get him, plus age, plus contract length, just doesn't fit.

Desharnais + 71st overall (MTL) for the 18th overall (DET) seems fair value wise...

Most of Detroit's impact players are early to mid 30's. Detroit should hold onto this pick and get a good young player.

Nowhere near enough. Consider that Ottawa gave up the 35th and 48th picks to grab the 24th pick from Detroit two years ago, you would need to have a much better offer than the 43rd and 60-61st to grab the 18th..

Letang (with an extension) for Smith (8.0 B), Nyquist (8.0 C), another prospect and the 18th pick

Does this interest you?

On the condition that Samuel Morin is available:

Detroit trades picks:
18+79
Montreal trades Pick:
25 + 36

I doubt it would take more than the 18th, honestly.

Morin will be available at 25 for sure .. Anyways mtl won't go for a dman they will go for a guy like rychel , mantha , burakovsky or even mccarron ... I wouldn't be surprise that if fucale is still available they pick I'm up at 25

Mtl doesn't care about picking up French player and it perfect like that !! Morin will get selected in second round exactly where he belong

Feaster hasn't been shy about moving spots in the draft. I don't know realistically what Detroit would want. All I know is we have too many LW and everyone and their mother thinks Tanguay is available.

That won't get you #18. That would probably get you #23 - #35 range. Jets would probably have to package #43, ~#61, and ~#74 to get to #18.

and that is exactly what i expect we'll do. imo the only way we trade #18 is if we don't love what's there/feel confident our guy will drop and we do something along the lines of what HabsMtl proposed like so:

Detroit trades picks:
18+79
Montreal trades Pick:
25 + 36

or we trade #18 for, say #25 and #55 (dunno who owns those picks, just plucking them out the air).
