You're right about 15 days to early, I knew that I should have kept them to myself. Who would you suggest and don't pick them to late or worse.

Well here we are two weeks from the Draft and the Habs at 25th may be able to draft McCarron after all and Hayden has fallen off to the 70's. After reading results from the Combines NHL/Habs and Grant's advice and "The Hockey News Draft Preview" of Grant's as well, here are the picks I think the Habs can draft:

#25 - Mike McCarron - RW
#34 - Justin Bailey - C/RW
#36 - John I. Diaby - LD
#55 - Jusse Saros - G
#71 - John Hayden - C/RW
#85 - N. Moutrey - LW
#175 - T. Hill - LW
#205 - L. Coughlin - C

These draft picks may not impress fans the way last years picks did but, signing Prust, Armstrong and Boullion didn't impress us either. The results on the other hand were really impressive, finishing first in the division instead of last. I hope for the same results from the draft and winning the SC when those picks join the Habs in 3-4 yrs.
Even after this draft people would say we did not draft big enough players.

I dont know if I agree or not but I think Bergevin and Timmins are going for gold.
If it pans out then yes.
Looking for a top ten this year.......

ok question for y'all:

Would you trade 25, 34 & 36 for pick & 5?

For which player?

Same, and I'd also take Lindholm there. Chances are it's one of those two who is BPA at 5.

Most Habs fans and management would do it but no top 5 team would.

Forget Lazar at 25. Too good to be true.

Only for Drouin... And I would start a church of Marc Bergevin, it would have a huge succes I bet.

Agreed...only for Drouin or MacKinnon...too many great players available at 25, 34 and 36.
In a weaker draft...I would make such a move, but this draft has a great deal of depth.

Personally, I'd go for Diaby. But I'm not a fan of Roy, to say the least.

I became a Roy fan throughout the year....but not in the first 2 rounds. Diaby took the opposite direction for me. Based on hockey sense mainly.

McCarron is big, but he's slow, doesn't scrap, and put up limited production. I think his upside is Latendresse. I wouldn't be upset if we took him though.
You might wanna watch this game if you think he's slow.

On a side note, I don't know who it is, but at the beginning of the vid, you can hear a few swearings in french when they exchange the soccer ball

I want us to get McCoshen. He makes me think of Trouba in his draft year. I think he could become a solid #2-3 D-Man for the Habs and he would be ready when Beaulieu/Tinordi are all established. I think he is really under-rated because not many people know about him but he scored at an amazing rate in the USHL. He is big, mobile, solid on Defense and has some good Offensive instincts. Plus he is going to BC which is good at developing prospects. He is my pick.

I've never seen him play, but I find it rather hard to believe he could be as good/complete as Trouba was, at the same age. Trouba was arguably the best Dmen for USA at the WJC in his draft year with Tinordi, while McCoshen was not even considered for the camp.

I havent seen him play either so I cant say but from scouting reports I have read it sounds like the only knock on him is his physicality. If he can become a solid #2 D-Man I would not hesitate to take him. He is a safe pick for sure but he is a safe pick that seems to have a lot of upside. That is what I like.

It's Laplante at his best! Love the kid...and not because he swears...Russian announcers were really pulling for US weren't they...

If I was going to cheat and arrange things then Habs picks would be:

25-Morin
34-McCarron
36-Hartman
55-Mueller
71-Sanford
86-Laplante

Mueller is going in the first round.

My wish list

25: - Mirco Mueller
- Valentin Zykov
- Samuel Morin

34: - Mike McCarron (OK at 25th)
- Emile Poirier
- Ian McCoshen (OK at 25th)

36: - Justin Bailey
- Jacob De la Rose
- Nic Petan

55: - John Hayden
- Laurent Dauphin
- William Carrier

If a guy like Ristolainen, Horvat or Domi falls at 20 +-, I'b be fine with 25th+55th to move up.

Well see, that's why that comparison is not founded, Trouba is a beast physically, that was what was the most appealing from his game actually. He was destroying kids two years older than him at the WJC.

McCoshen is WAY rawer(or more raw), I can understand if people compare him to McDonagh, who was at the time of the draft pretty raw himself too.

Not close at all. Trouba was considered to be the top pick by some... He's a highly skilled player plus he's a physical specimen

I'm not convinced his offence is that good. His team was stacked, and when I saw him he did not have those amazing offensive instincts. I have heard same things from peaple saying he just makes the first pass and the rest his team does. He is not a physical brute but can go physical if needed. He is not whitout mistakes defensively, like most youngsters. He has the physical tools but I dont think his offense is as good as advertise, he has a good first pass but his points come from a strong pp, and strong team.
