I'm sure Ron MacLean would call Rousey a specialty act, too.

Thanks all for help. Someone on reddit put up a listing for a place in West Springfield, VA which seems to be within commuting distance of Alexandria. Will have to go up 95 - 395 to get to work, but it doesn't seem bad at all.

Seems like a good opportunity, just curious about the traffic, especially in the morning.

Rousey is so bad ass. I love that she embraces the heel role. The crowd was so wild for that fight live; by far the best sporting event I've ever attended, even with the brutal ending.

2014 Canine Calendar with Capitals

I'm in need of a 2014 calendar and came across this.

http://www.monumentalnetwork.com/vid...ar-photo-shoot

I missed this back in October. Did any of you mention it?

So just powered through Breaking Bad over the last few weeks.

Very good show, but anyone else think its hugely overrated. No chance that's the best TV show of all time. I'd put it a tier below The Wire, The Sopranos, and several others.

It's the most entertaining show of all time. The other two you mention are better "quality" probably, but Breaking Bad definitely isn't poorly written or anything.

I have it right up there withthose two and The Shield. I feel I could watch any of those 4 at any time.

Only watched the first season of Breaking Bad but it was definitely a quality show. The Wire is probably one of the best I've ever seen. As far as The Sopranos, after Gandolfini's death HBO started in July via On Demamd showing each season for a month, so I watched the entire searies in the proper sequence and just concluded the final season over the Holidays. Though I liked the Sopranos overall I found some of the side stories i.e. his annoying son AJ, became more of a distraction to the plot line rather than adding to the show and the way it ended was disappointing.

House of Cards second season is coming February 14 via Netflix. Highly recommend it and the British Version is on PBS starting this Wednesday. I've heard from some that the British version is even better than the American one with Kevin Spacey.

My expectations were probably too high. From what I'd heard and read, there were no continuity errors, every plot twist made perfect sense, there were no faults in the realism, and the character development was unprecedented. None of those were true.

In terms of entertainment value, I'd actually put it even lower on the list. There are shows without the overall production quality that were more entertaining (Sons of Anarchy, 24, etc.)

And Skyler is among the least likable and underdeveloped television characters of all time.

I'd probably put The Wire, The Sopranos, The West Wing, Mad Men, and Game of Thrones clearly above it at this point ( I haven't seen The Shield). To me, it's in a tier with The Walking Dead, Boardwalk Empire, Battlestar Galactica (the new one), and OZ.

To it's credit, it's a rare show that never jumped the shark and got better as it progressed, which pushes it ahead of shows like 24, Homeland, Lost, and Sons of Anarchy.

I agree totally. It is a very good show. I sort of gauge how much I like/appreciate a show if I watch it the night is DVRd and generally I would end having 3+ episodes piled up as a backlog. I'd agree it didn't jump the shark either. Helps having one showrunner. I think Dexter had 4 or 5 showrunners in its run.

IMHO the bar is getting higher and higher with the increasing quality of television. HBO's True Detective anthology series is already getting raves.

Handy Jan 2014 premiere calendar attached.

The Shield ruled. Maybe not quite as good as the Wire but it was still freaking fantastic IMO.

HATE HATE Cops shows, that's why I'll never watch The Shield. That said, The Wire was phenomenal.

I think I am up early in S3 for SFU. I am pretty easy to please but not sure what the hype was about for that show. I watched the first two season of The Shield and it was OK. Maybe those two shows turn it on in the later seasons? Don't know.

Will check out the premiere of Intelligence (CBS) tonight just for the hell of it. Don't think I will keep tuning in since its it is more procedural BS from what I've read despite the sci-fi element.

Nope. My wife didn't even have any trouble with it, and she'd be the last person I'd expect to like a fantasy series.

Its probably because Game of Thrones shows more weiners in it than Anthony Weiners TwitPic account.
