But part of that isn't their fault. There is a natural arrogance that comes with being an athlete. They KNOW they are the 2-best players in the world. They are taught, from like age 4, that the coach is right, don't question the coach, go out and play.

So when they fail, they believe it's on them, because they know that if they play to the best of their abilities, they are above everyone else on the ice.
So now who's trying to get inside players' heads?

Like I said before, I'm just (futilely) trying to find an explanation for two great competitors apparently being ok with the direction the organization seems to be taking. That's all.

That answer only got better as he went on.

And now he's getting annoyed. :haha:

Um....you could say this for the entire team.

I'm not trying to get inside Sid and Geno's heads' specifically. I'm going on both their words (supporting Dan) and actions (signing long extensions with the Pens).

On top of that, I'm saying, as someone who has dealt with Athletes a lot, that I understand their mindset, because Athletes think differently from the rest of humanity.

And I don't know why I randomly capped athletes.

Didn't see/hear the conference, so would appreciate someone filling in:

1) Given that Bylsma was extended, I doubt anything negative was said. Was there anything important other than the extension?

2) Both Shero and Bylsma were fairly critical of Fleury last off-season, did they have anything to say today?

3) Was anything said about the significant injury Martin was supposed to have suffered?

Nicely done. I don't even care what his answer is because he doesn't make the decision.
Whoever asked this is the damn man.

Actually, nobody is saying anything about that beyond a few of us expressing our hope that Geno had leveraged his position like Lundqvist did in NY. Since the only reporting about the exit interviews said that both Sid and Geno endorsed the coach, it's pretty clear that's part of the problem. Maybe it's comfort. Maybe it's, as IcedCapp suggested, a belief in themselves. Whatever it is, the only thing I learned today is that Torts was absolutely right: The Pens are the most ARROGANT organization in hockey. There's not even a close second.

Hearing Shero offer effusive praise about Fleury is a real headscratcher.

We are talking about a head case who has a track record of melting down in the post-season and allowing the most soul-crushing goals at the worst possible times. Does not compute.

Again with teh feelings. It's important we all understand MAF was "supportive of Tomas and the team".

WTF is wrong with this guy?

Well yeah, then he decided he needed to play twice as well in order to make up for last season, and tried to do too much.

Can't wait for next playoffs, when he feels he has to make up for the last TWO years, and now tries to do even MORE.

Well, I was naive enough to think that maybe he wanted to win. Figured the same, mistakenly, about Sid too.

im a pretty big dejan hater since i try to be an objective pirates fan and he is anything but an objective pirates commentator, but it will be nice to see him turn his ire towards the pens front office and coaching staff. nobody in the pittsburgh media holds a grudge quite like him, too.

Oh and the PR director cuts off the questions now that they're getting to him with Fleury.

Pansy-ass PR people are a scourge / plague. Communications Cancer.

Don't think it was Dejan. He just tweeted saying he had to leave to pick his daughter up before DB came out.

Bylsma heard the outside criticisms, took it to heart, and gave the exact-same answer for the MAF question.
