Jim Ralph let go

Quote:
Jim Ralph ‏@Jim_Ralph 2h

1- got the word that my job as leaf colour guy is over. 16 yr run 1,196 consecutive games ends. Thankful for the run. Thanks to Beyak
I for one liked Jim. Thought he was funny and did a real good job sharing insight and telling stories without detracting from the game.

He will be missed

There are a lot of media guys in Toronto I can't stand. But I always liked Jim Ralph and his self deprecating humour. Too bad. Not sure I understand why he was let go.

Am I over-thinking by wondering if this was mandated/decided by Leiweke?

Earlier this year 95% of this board was bashing him and Bowen because of them laughing and telling stories during games.

How the hell is Greg Millen still around and yet they fire this guy? Nobody likes Millen... he's absolutely terrible at what he does... and yet they continue to force him down our throats.

I'm surprised that they let him go because I thought he was great and now who can replace him?

Probably, unless you can think of any reason as to why Leiweke would get involved.

Nope, people were bashing Jim Ralph, not 95% of the board, but the majority of the people in the GDT were bashing him and Bowen for laughing and telling stories.

I don't think anyone likes Millen

I've read some suggest that an area Leiweke should focus on the Raptors side of things is to vastly revamp and improve their broadcasts, including the television crew. Perhaps he would want to do the same on the Leafs side. (Hence the over-thinking)

Although I'm sure the changes would have been a bit more broad if that were the case. As such, I'm a little confused why Ralph was let go (doesn't sound to be mutual), and it will be interesting to see who he is replaced with. Wonder if that means Rogers/Bell wiped their hands completely clean of him and he will no longer be making regular appearances on TSN1050.

Abbott doesn't do colour so we're good for now. When Bowen goes, then we have to start worrying...

Best moment of this season was when he chirped Doug Maclean by going after his wife.

The majority of the people in the GDT were listen to the radio broadcast?
