Great plays in both zones, and a complete rock in his own zone. It's rare this team lets young defensemen come in without any experience in the AHL (Lidstrom was the last one) - but he seems like the real deal.
Macts story about going to talk to him and his agent about signing with the oilers and seeing Red Wings vanity plates on his car still makes me laugh

I wonder if this factored into them signing Joensuu - as he was a childhood Oilers fan.

At least our first game wasn't that bad.
They had stellar goaltending last year, but had some consistency issues everywhere else.

That and their d is horrid. Allen isn't the player he was in Florida and Carolina.
Allen, Beachumin, Fowler, Lovejoy, Fistric, Vatanen. Not good.

As for MacKinnon - the kid is sick. Something very Crosby-esque about the way he skates and sees the ice.

3 1st overalls in a row for the Oil but it's COL that gets the Next One. FML.
One game and we're concluding to this?

Please, Taylor Hall is already a top 5 winger in the league and easily a superstar player. I would not trade him for anyone on the Avs roster individually.

I'm not the only one who thinks Mackinnon is going to be better than any of our forwards.

Well Hall, somehow winning back2back Memorial Cup MVPs, on page for 90+ pts is somehow considered a 2nd tier talent behind MacKinnon is just wrong. MacKinnon didn't even outproduce his linemate.

The vast majority of HFBoards disagrees with you.

Sure, he could be better than Hall, RNH or Yak, but it's ridiculous to say "he is going to be better".

2-0 Flames over the Capitals in the 1st period.

Flames > Capitals.

EDIT: 3-0 Flames.

Stempniak, Jones and Hudler with the goals.

Once again the Western conference asserts it's superiority over the East.

CGY is up 3-0 and well on their way to beating EDM to the playoffs (based the mindset floating around here).

What would piss me off is if they found the next Kipper in Ramo while we can't do **** for goaltending.

You have quite the ability (habit) of phrasing things in a way that ruffles feathers.

Not likely. He was awful in his first NHL stint.

If the Flames blow this, it'll instantly make me forget about the Jets game.

we should have gone for Niederreiter. while we didn't have an expendable Clutterbuck, i think we could still make a pretty interesting offer.

Very weird seeing Horcoff in another uniform. He's playing left wing on a line with Vernon Fiddler and Valeri Nichushkin tonight.
