What's going on? Are the Flames winning again?

*I haven't looked at the NHL schedule or standings yet and I doubt that I will anytime soon*

Well we're looking up at them currently. And guess who gets Vancouver on the second half of back to backs.

And that's worrisome, because the Lightning are just an awful team. Watched their game against the Blackhawks last night, they might be the worst team in the league. Odd to say after they won, but they should have lost 8-1. About three shots halfway through the game. About three scoring chances the whole game, and of course two manage to go in. I haven't even heard of four or five guys on their roster. It's going to be a great battle between them, Florida, and Buffalo for 8th place in that division.

Flames are dominating the Canucks play wise (not score).

Oh boy.

Yup, and to the surprise of nobody, the Flames get a team on the second half of back to backs. Same script as last year.

You know, it doesn't make any game an automatic win. Especially considering the current strength of the flames squad.

With the Oilers, I'm sure we've blown games in the same situation as the flames.

It doesn't but last year the Flames got something like 12 teams that were in Edmonton the night before. I think the reverse happened maybe 3 or 4 times.

The ****ing Flames are playing like **** in the 3rd period here but they're still going to escape this with a point. Book it.

Although Calgary did just pin the Canucks in their own zone... Still, the Flames are about as good at holding leads as we are.

Edit: Sigh.

It is refreshing to watch a team compete to the best of their (paltry) abilities though.

Well the Flames did that for one period in Washington. The Oilers competed more in their game against the Jets.

They played pretty good against columbus (and bobrovsky gave up a couple softies)

No surprise the Flames get the backup and we get Roberto.

But they're just hampering their tanking efforts.

Who cares? Back-to-backs and back-up goalie stuff is overblown.

EDIT: Intentionally tanking isn't admirable. Props to the Flames for battling hard.

Ask Richard Bachman about that.

And of course it isn't, but finishing 9th or 10th just restarts the cycle.

Yeah, well, the Leafs bucked that theory. As have a few teams over the past six years.

Meh, I think if the season was a full one the Leafs would not have made the playoffs. They had very similar scripts the last few years, starting white hot then fading down the stretch.

I really put very little stock into the joke that is the Eastern conference. At least they got some actual competition in Detroit.

The Leafs have assembled a decent team and now they're even more set with Bernier.

I can admit it. It took a while but they became a solid club without bottoming out.
