I can admit it. It took a while but they became a solid club without bottoming out.
Well, they did finish second last in the league when we drafted Hall.

The goalie problem lies in that generally the best available goalies (Schnieder, Bernier, Hiller/Fasth/Gibson) are within our division and thus come at a higher price.

Still, let's toot their horns after the season is over. A season can go sideways very quickly as we've seen in the past.

At least we don't have the worst giveaway of the year.

Man. I'm so tired of watching American teams celebrating on our ice surfaces. Lets see some dominant Canadian teams for a change (and no, the Canucks don't count anymore).

Well to be fair, we haven't lost to an American team yet.

Personally, I'm sick of winning teams being from places that couldn't give two ***** about hockey.

Sean Monahan was on the ice for 4 of the Canucks 5 goals.

I'd normally mock that but considering Taylor Hall's performance yesterday...

The turnovers by veterens were the reason for that. He had a great game.

I'm actually quite impressed with Monahan's game. Something very Toews-like about his game. Obviously the high-end offensive potential isn't there - but I see the high hockey IQ in almost everything he does.

He isnt flashy but he gets to the right spots. ill be suprised if he doesnt end up being a 60+ point player just on his iq.

I was really hoping he would fall to the Oilers at #7. But it was obvious he wasn't going to make it past the Flames. They've got a gooder there, no doubt about it.

The thing about Toews is he looked pretty flashy to me when he was a rookie. I see the similarities in Monahan and Toews but Toews at a young age was better, he'd just turn it on and go clutch no matter what. I think Monahan's impact will eventually be closer to Kesler than Toews. If the Flames draft some high-end skill I think Monahan will be a great compliment to that talent, as I was hoping we would do for us until the Flames picked him ahead of us.

And I love that the attitude of most Oiler fans is "Lol, Flames screwing up 1st overall!". As though trying to compete for a playoff spot when it's not expected of you is some fools errand.

Keep reading on twitter that you can't say that PHI doesn't make adjustments when things are going bad, that they are aggressive. Hasn't their aggressive ways got them to this mess?

Teams in large hockey markets don't have to win to profit so they don't try as hard to win as the teams in smaller hockey markets.

If the Oilers didn't have so much fan support they would be treated like a business that needs to win to succeed. In reality they are treated like a hobby or toy for the Old Boys Club to play around with.

Skinner has looked good so far this year. I hope he can shake the concussion's, he's made Dvorak/Nash look good.

Also if Khudobin can put a good season together for the Canes they might not be able to resign him.

Definitely jealous the Flames drafted Monahan but I'm excited about Nurse.

I wanted Monahan all the way, I am happy with Nurse though.

I have a lot more confidence in MacT than Holmgren. Amazing he hasn't been fired yet.

Alex Chiasson with 2goals through 2gp for the Stars. The kid looks like the real deal to me.

Big-bodied goal-scoring winger. Wouldn't surprise me if he steals the Calder this year with 30+ goals or something.

Laughably bad. I remember when Brodeur did something similar back in the day.

Quick is a slow starter for sure. But there are still few goalies I'd hate to face more in the playoffs.
