When Hertl's name is mentioned in December folks will be going "Who?"

This is impressive but he's played 12 minutes of uncontested shinny hockey against a shellshocked Rangers team.

Forgive me. I'm just a little bitter and annoyed that the Oilers can't even seem to coax the best out of their 1st overall gifts on a night basis.

Hey it's not like we traded down and passed on him in the process.

Really, who cares about the Sharks prospects? Fabian Brunnstrom scored a hat trick in his NHL debut and everyone crapped their pants about how amazing he was. Now he's not even in the NHL anymore.

I'd take Nuge over anything the Sharks have up front.

Getting lots of shots would probably be a good start. The Sharks had 47 SOG when it was all said and done.

Just saw the 4th goal.

The Rangers defense wasn't even trying to stop him. It was pathetic.

I've never seen a team just... give up in the fashion that the Rangers did in the 3rd period. I know it sounds like I'm trying to take this away from Hertl but there are a lot of NHL level players (and lower) who can do that move. ****, Marek Malik pulled it off successfully (in a shootout, mind you).

It's a Czech specialty. I remember Jagr doing it when I was a kid.

Hah. That's a great observation. I've also noticed that the Canadian sports media is head over heels for that move tonight. If Yakupov did something similar it would be "Omg! Classless!" and a week long debate would ensue.

I think it ticks me off more how some teams find these guys. San Jose already had Marleau, Thornton. Then they luck out on Couture at 9th overall and now (very likely) this guy at 17th. And all through this they've been a solid, elite team that doesn't need to suffer the humiliation of going into the dumps for a 'rebuild'.

The goal was nice can't deny that I don't know didn't really blow me away I guess he walked right through the d

What I found to be very impressive was that the kid scored 4 goals in just his second game and has 7 points in 2 games that's impressive

On another note man the rangers are ugly right now

So disappointed NHL.com's headline isn't "ouch, that's gotta Hertl"...

I want to see Yakupov do that move so the main board and media can go nuts.

Well, they experienced that illustrious "honor" during their expansion seasons. They won only 11 games in their second season. We can't even begin to picture that level of ineptitude.

But yeah... expansion seasons are a whole different ball game.

The Sharks also haven't been elite for a few years now. Just making the playoffs shouldn't make you "elite".

Keep in mind they also suffered a few humiliating playoff defeats. They might never live that Ducks series down.

Hey I'm an oilers fan. Any team that gets a sniff of the playoffs is elite.

I don't think there is a better player in the NHL for Hertl to play with than Thornton. That's a luxury that our players never had.
