Status of Blake Geoffrion

Does anyone know what's the status of Blake Geoffrion? Did he retire already?

Yes, he had a terrifying injury and made the right call to retire. This happened quite a few months ago.

I don't think there was new words on him since he said to the team he was considering retirement.

Nothing new since what he said about considering retirement, there is still a possibility of returning. If he were to return I wouldn't expect him to be back playing this coming year maybe the year after.

Does anyone know the policy of becoming a referee in regards to young players who are injured and unable to pursue their NHL dream? I remember reading that the NHL instituted a policy giving them preferential treatment in that situation and I wonder if it would apply to Geoffrion, if he in fact wanted it,which I don't know if he does.

Best to retire now and tell the grandchildren that an injury cut down what was going to be a promising career . It's more interesting than the truth.

But the talk I heard before he announced he was going to retire, was that he was done and wouldn't be back. If he's done, at least he can say he got to play for the Habs, best of luck to him whatever he decides to do.

My prediction is he'll never play for the Canadiens again, whether it be through retirement or not receiving a QO.

I would think at this point he's way to far down the depth chart to ever really be considered anything more than an AHL call-up. He was doing well in Hamilton, but by no means dominating. He was a Gauthier acquisition and at 25, as years go by, new kids will be drafted under the Bergevin regime and he'll get forgotten about.

Didn't he announced his retirement but then for some financial reasons had to say he wasn't until he...actually re-announced it again?

And that he scored for the habs, too.

I believe if a player announces his retirement then the team doesn't have to pay him, so he probably retracted the statement and will make it soon, or when he becomes a FA

This.

I hope he can make it as a ref or coach or scout or whatever. Hockey's in his blood.

This, from what I have heard nothing is set in stone just yet but leaning more towards calling it a career.

I read that he retired, but then the team suggested for him to wait a bit before making a final decision
