Teams not likely to use buyouts

James Mirtle ‏@mirtle 11m
Teams not using buyouts... Calgary, Columbus, New Jersey for sure. Imagine more added here in next few days.

James Mirtle ‏@mirtle 33s
More teams not expected to use buyouts: Stars, Penguins, Jets, Canes, Sabres, Ducks. Window to do so opens 48 hours after Cup handed out.

Huh. I thought the Sabres were looking to acquire bad contracts in exchange for assets.

Wild would really really really like to use one on a 7.5M player who unfortunately is still on the LTIR.

The Blues wont be using a buyout. They really don't have anyone to buyout that would make sense.

Detroit may not if they can trade say Samuelsson, Bertuzzi and Coloaiacovo for picks I cant believe that theres not some teams out there willing to go after any one of them though both Samuelsson and Bertuzzi have NTC and would have to waive any move.

The only potential player the Jets would use it on is Jokinen, and he's injured.

Wasn't he deemed healthy enough to be bought out just a few days(maybe a week) ago?

I could have sworn I read somewhere on this thread that Heatley was going to be ready for next years training camps and so he was able to be bought out.

Feaster said he will not use a buyout on any of the current roster players, but when asked he would not rule out trading for a contract and buying it out. So the Flames could use their buyouts, just not on their own players.

I heard he was not healthy enough to be bought out but would be ready for camp.

Don't think there's anyone on Ottawa that's a buyout candidate.

Mended tweeted Ottawa not likely to use any buyout either a week or so ago.

Sabres wont this year in part becasue they neeed to stay above the floor. If they trade Miller and Vanek without salary retention then they are projected at the floor.

In 2014 they may use it on Leino if he doesnt persorm next year. Buffalo on the other hand is a team that would do a trade for a buyout candidate or a salary dump (Ballard from VAN, Heatley from MIN)

Boston--likely Peverley or Boychuk
Montreal--Gionta
Rangers--Richards (may wait till 2014)
Pittsburgh--MAF
Vancouver---Booth, Ballard, Luongo
Philadelphia--Brierre, Bryz

Kings MAY buy out Mitchell, but that's a huge if. If he's physically capable of playing next year, he will. The only way I see him being bought out is if he's cleared to play medically but is still unable, thus unable to go on LTIR, then I see the Kings reluctantly buying him out. But that's a lot of speculation.

Kings have no other buy out targets, really. Long term contracts on Doughty, Richards, Carter, and Quick, and they're all not going anywhere, obviously.
