Jeff Passan @JeffPassan
From June 13, 2012 to June 13, 2013, the Oakland A's are 108-60.

A few days old, but this just puts it into perspective how amazing the A's have been in the 2nd half of last year and the 1st half of this year.

"Since the Jays found themselves 11 games under .500 (10-21) they turned things around in a good way, so good that they own the best AL record in that time frame of 22-15"

Why is DeRosa batting 5th in back to back games. He's not a good hitter, and he sucked yesterday in that spot.

Because he generally hits well against lefties.

Funny thing is, Zaun trying to make fun of match ups listed Arencibia as a .241 hitter vs. left handed pitchers, its probably higher then his numbers against righties.

So Zaun takes a swipe at "Sabremetrics" and his evidence against those much-hated newfangled stats being used as decision making tools? poor batting averages vs lefties.

good job there, Zaun.

.376 wOBA, 139 wRC+ against lefties this year. I'd say he's batting right where he should be with a lefty on the hill.

I wish you were right, because I hate that POS, but he's actually a career .270 hitter against lefties.

Jose Reyes gets a hit in first at-bat in Dunedin. Meanwhile, Morrow was bad in the first inning as he gave up 3 hits, a walk but only one run.

He's still not that bad in comparison to Harold Reynolds. I am still hurt by his draft analysis.

The first two quotes I hang on people like Reynolds and Joe Morgan whose dislike for the idea of Moneyball led them to push (and in turn create acceptance for) a totally ridiculous misrepresentation of the "Moneyball strategy" as being to always draft college players who have high OBPs and then to just work the count until they can hit HRs.

I've even had discussions on here with people who were very, very insistent on telling me what Moneyball was all about in spite of the fact that they'd never read the book.

Morrow gave up 5 hits (1 HR) and 3 runs in the first two innings so they pulled him. Reyes has two hits and two runs in his only two appearances.

With Janssen and Cecil becoming all but automatic in the back of the bullpen, they've made Santos an afterthought.

I missed part of what was said during the broadcast, but who did Rajai pass on the all-time Jays' steals list? and it was into 9th all time, wasn't it?

Treated myself to a seat right behind the plate in the 100lvl. Picked a good game to do it. What a performance by both starters. Izturis keeps being useful. Lind with a giant catch. Jays win. All is good.

Francis has been really good against the Jays in his career. Hopefully we change that tomorrow.
