JJ might be pitching that game, depends what Gibbons does considering they have a day off on thursday.

Awesome start by JJ though.

Wang should be pitching that game

I was listening to the radio this morning and Buck Martinez said, in his opinion, Reyes will come back by Friday.

EDIT: Nevermind, I didnt know they had a day off. Maybe JJ like the poster said above me.

So it was vaguely alluded to a couple of days ago with a sort-of cryptic link and brief discussion, but now that we have the OK from the higher ups, I might as well just do a proper introduction:

A small group of us from here (me, Woodman, Scion, and Eyedea) have started our own Blue Jays blog where we can go on at length about whatever the hell we feel like as long as it's Jays related. You can read it at:

www.bluejayshipsters.com

...and yes, the name does come from an offhand comment that was made on HF about a group of posters that includes the 4 of us

Our plan is to try and get some kind of article up on most days (quasi-ironically not tonight though, as today's contribution was a series preview for the Rockies and tonight's game review), while also doing series previews and series and game reviews. From now on we will likely be linking to our articles here as they are written since this is easily the best Jays discussion on the internet. We do have the OK from the admins and the Leafs mods know what's going on, so no we're not spamming or advertising without permission.

And if you have any feedback/questions/etc, we have contact info on the blog or you can just get a hold of us here too.

Thanks everyone and we look forward to your readership. You may now carry on your regularly scheduled Jays discussion.

He was on a tight pitch count (40) and he likely exceeded that. Didn't want him to get overworked or anything.

I think everyone there thought it was gone. I had my doubts though. Just didn't have that usual sound/action that a Bautista HR usually has. Then again, I have no idea how that one ball got out against the White Sox.

If AJ Jiminez has a few good more weeks at AA I think they can be aggresive with him. He's already 23 and his defense is said to be major league ready. I see no reason why he shouldnt be promoted to AAA at the end of June especially seeing we have guys like Nickeas and some other scrub manning catcher right now. That sets him up nicely for a september callup with the chance of making the team out of spring training next season.

"There's no questions about AJ Jimenez's defence behind the plate; he has great glovework, game-calling ability and is excellent with the catch-and-throw game". They go on to say that he only had 6 passed balls in 2011 to go along with throwing out 44% of base stealers (55% in his small sample size 2012 season). He certainly seems to be the anti-Arencibia"

This is more of the team that AA envisioned when he made those moves this year.

Offense can be dominating (like against Texas), and when you're faced with a hot pitcher, your own pitching is dominating enough to give you a chance to win the game.

Need Cabrera, Bautista and Encarnacion to start hitting again though. Lind won't be this hot forever and Rasmus is also a streaky player.

Getting Reyes back soon will help a lot as well.

JJ's FIP and xFIP are now below 4. In fact he's the only starting pitcher on the Jays with those peripherals.

Oh and, gold glove for Bautista? Guy has been the best rated right fielder so far this year according to defensive metrics on Fangraphs.

Love A.J. Jimenez as a prospect. Never thought of the the anti-arencibia but it's absolutely true lol. He hits for a good average and shows a decent eye at the plate as well. I mentioned yesterday morning in a post that the organization clearly loves him, and most likely were more comfortable letting Perez and d'Arnaud go because of his potential.

My only worry is how the tommy john surgery will effect his catch and throw. Hopefully he still has a gun.

Good to see. In the beginning of the year, him and Morrow were the only two starters I thought would have sub-4 xFIP's. Hopefully Brandon comes back healthy after his next rehab start. Having those two pitching well is what will propel this team moving forward.

I worry too, but thinking of how a lot of pitchers have had that surgery and are still pitching fine in the majors provides relief to any worries I have.

Can't really tell right now, but he's at 30% (3-10) so far since coming back. I don't believe TJ will affect him too much, although it might make him more conservative and safe with his arm action. The thing I'd worry the most about is shoulder and knee injuries with catchers.

Great run here, boys need to keep it up... make it 10 in a row or so.

If they can be at .500 by allstar break that would be HUGE
