What did Chicago do to get back to the SCF that the Penguins didn't?

Nobody said the Bruins have NO Skill. However, answer this questions....a relaxed interpretation of the rules favors which group of players - Crosby, Malkin, Letang or Lucic, Horton, Chara?

The Bruins did a much better job of playing to the way the playoff are called.

That's why I never understood letting Gill walk, not like he was all that expensive.

Exactly. It would have been nice for the Penguins to be smart enough to take advantage of the fact that evidently blatant infractions are now completely overlooked instead of occasionally overlooked. Maybe they'd still be playing hockey, right now. But they didn't and the Bruins did. Like I said... great for them.

It shouldn't be something we're all jumping for joy about, though. Especially because of it's league-wide implications. People so quickly forget pre-05 hockey, how utterly miserable it was and how we got to that point, in the first place.

Hal Gill was the Gretzky of getting away with obstruction. Could use a player like him again for sure.

There is absolutely no correlation between playing "tough" and "hard hitting" and gameplanning to break the rules because you know you can get away with it. Nice try, though. Bonus points for trying to pull at people's heartstrings with the Steelers stuff.

The NFL, by the way, would never allow it's product to get drug down into the mud as much as the NHL has. Another reason why the casual fan will never take the sport seriously.

Yes... the Bruins labor under the same disgraceful officiating as the rest of the league.

They count on it, in fact.

Why are you so insecure? Show me where anyone is blaming the Bruins? They boggle your mind because you either are unable or unwilling to read and process and acknowledge that the NHL is making a conscious decision to change the way the game is officiated in the playoffs, and we don't enjoy it. The Bruins are doing absolutely nothing wrong, the NHL is.

Or: team from the north east good league bad.

i hope that clears it up

I really don't know what to tell you. I blame your team for nothing, aside from simply taking what is there. Like I said... I wish the Penguins were smart enough to take advantage. That seems to be the direction that the league is going and everyone in charge seems just peachy keen with it, so why not?

Congratulations, I'm happy for you. Now please leave.

I'm sorry that differing opinions are upsetting to you, but believe it or not, it's okay if another fanbase doesn't like a certain style of hockey for reasons completely independent of your team.

now we see just how deeply rotted their deluded notions of disrespect are - at first i thought it was an inspired shtick, but now i can see how genuinely felt this self-aggrandizing paradigm is.

That's... not what I'm doing at all. In the slightest. Officiating is not, in a traditional sense, the reason the Penguins were swept. Far down the list, actually. I'm attempting to illustrate that the league is allowing it's product to slip back into the gutter and that officiating is a huge part of that. Like it was pre-05. The Boston Bruins are tertiary to this argument and only part of the conversation (aside from your bizarre insistence that they should be) because they play obstruction hockey and are having great success with it. Other teams do, too.

I'm frankly now completely astounded at your utter lack of reading comprehension. Baffled, really. I would continue attempting to communicate with you but I think maybe I should just cut my losses, at this point.

Enjoy the rest of the playoffs, for whatever that's worth.

You know... I think a lot of it truly is that so many people have now grown up watching this ********* throughout the mid 90s onwards and really, truly believe that's the way "good old fashioned" hockey should be played. And that what happened post 05 was "needlessly tinkering with the sport." Then they get all ******** about it when you dare mention the fact that the "good old days" they pine for was actually the absolute nadir in the sport.

I wasn't aware being fluent in multiple languages made you an authority on the way penalties are called in the NHL playoffs. Very interesting. Maybe you could type us out a 5 page report on the subject. Single spaced though and 10 point font.

...

Are we allowed to post entire posts in French? I basically paraphrased everyone's replies (the most recent ones anyway) to him as best as I could.

I had a Boston fan PM me about a comment that was made about the league reverting back to the dreaded clutch and grab era during the playoffs, and he told me that hockey has always been a clutch and grab league. I told him based on his comments he must be about 20. He showed me up by stating he was 23. So basically that means if he started to watch hockey at age 7, that would be 1997....pretty much the early years of the clutch and grab era. Now you see why these fans don't remember the good old days without obstruction.....They probably can't comprehend the fact that I used to pay 79 cents for a gallon of gas either.

It blew his mind that I was in college at that time.

Yup yup and yup....
Clutch and grab hockey is back!!

Expect 5 other teams next year to follow suite. Then 10 more teams the year after that.

Suddenly....
We're back to 1996.

New league-wide conspiracy: the zero tolerance for obstruction penalties meant a much larger number of guys scoring a lot of points, thus driving up salaries and FA madness, nullifying cap room increases. In order to improve margins, owners have secretly approved more clutch and grab hockey to slowly push point totals down, cooling the race to average players getting 6M contracts.

It's UNCLE GARY's FAULT!
