It always has been. In fact, Chicago could make a deal if they wanted to, it's just that anyone involved can't play anymore for the rest of the year.

If this doesn't spell the end of Blum/Ellis/Gill's time here, I don't know what does. We already have Weber, Josi, Klein, Blum, Ellis, Gill, Ekholm, Bartley, and Tollefson fighting for a spot on the roster, and now we bring in Brennan? Blum won't be here long IMO, as sad as that makes me. I still think he turns out to be a very good player.

Interesting pick up. Decent size kid. Not sure what type of player he is from looking at his stats.

Are we sure Tollefson is coming over?

I'm pretty sure SLake said he was, which is as good as sacred IMO.

Pretty much spells the end for Blum or Ellis and Gill. Hopefully Ellis and Gill and not Blum. I like this deal.

We were actually able to get something for someone we claimed off of waivers ... let that sink in for a second... good job Poile ... and I agree, that this probably spells the end of Blum in Nashville

Apparently Brennan's best asset is his shot from the point. That seems more like an Ellis replacement that a Blum one..but who knows.

Going to be a cheap signing 605k is the qualifying offer.

Is this the guy to play with KK? And What deal does DP have worked out to move Elli, Blum or Gill.

Meh..We need a 2nd pairing D. Not more 3rd/bench D-men.

Don't be so sure about that. I've heard a little bit of buzz from the team that Blum isn't even a sure bet to get a QO. I don't think he's with the team in the fall.

On the other hand, a couple of weeks ago, Paul Fenton said that they still think Ryan Ellis will be a "star," and part of why they're excited about Housley is that he can help groom Ellis.

i think that's a mistake. the team definitely thinks more of ellis. my post was my opinion which is i believe blum will eventually be the better defenseman.

If we don't even qualify Blum.....he's gonna be a top 4 D. I'm ok (not happy, but ok) with dealing him, but he still has value.

I'm sure we can get a mid to late 2nd for Blum. Not qualifying him would be stupid when we can get something for him.

Based on what, though? Again, Thomas Hickey went 4th overall in the same draft, with a similar pedigree--then went on waivers last year.

Blum has been riding his "potential" for a long time, but aside from a great burst when he was called up the first time, he's been terrible. He was awful to start 11/12 and went to the minors for it. He was worse than anyone not named Scott Hannan this season and got called out by Trotz for it.

I see a lot of "trade Blum to pick up a second or move up in the draft" type talk, but scouts have seen what some of us won't admit--Blum is 24 and approaching "bust" status.

I didn't think Blum would be back, then heard the QO rumor...now we've traded for another bottom pair PP defenseman?

The writing is on the wall.

The difference in Blum and Hickey is that Blum has consistently been in the NHL and even looked good on a top 4 role for awhile. Someone will bite on what he has shown, especially teams like Calgary, Colorado, and Philly that need young talent on D.

Have season tickets to the Rochester Amerks and watched this kid play the past 2 years. He has a booming slap shot and loves the one timers on the PP from the right half wall. Having Weber at the center point and TJ on the right wall will force teams to play a wider box vs you guys. Will open a lot more space for your forwards down low on the PP. Great pick-up for Nashville imo. Solid third pairing guy.

And Kings fans felt Hickey should be in the NHL, but he was boxed out by depth. Depth we didn't really have this season, where Blum got more icetime than he should have.

his shot is a missle, didn't hit the net very often here, but seems like he did in the AHL.

he has good offensive skills. not just his shot, but he made some impressive passes as well. not a one-trick pony like Garrison was on the PP. he's not very good defensively but that can/should improve with time.

good deal for you guys.

It's funny how people are down on Ellis. He will get stronger, adjust to the NHL and will be just fine.
