Especially since our 24 year old current NHL goalie put up a .923 SV% in the playoffs.

If we didn't have Reimer, I'd probably think about that offer though. So I'm not saying it's not fair value.
Not to make the comparison, but I'm just throwing this out there.

A former Leafs goalie who won the Calder Trophy once posted a .924 SV% with a 2.15 GAA, losing in a 7 game series.

He also had a .926 SV% with a 2.05 GAA during the regular season. Care to guess who this is? Now, I'm not saying Reimer's career will go the same direction, but keep that in mind before hanging your hopes on him.

I'm not sold on Reimer yet. He's been good in spurts, and he's also had stretches where he's looked bad. He can be wildly inconsistent and could turn out like the goalie I'm referencing. I'll let you figure it out as I'm sure it's not too difficult to realize who I'm talking about.

If Dean Lombardi wants to go with Philly, he would half to get both of the Schenn brothers in there somehow, you can't split them up after half a season together.

I don't think there is interest in the Schenn brothers given their salaries/cap hit.

I want Bernier in Edmonton so bad!! But DL probably won't trade him to a team that will he in his division next year considering the realignment.

I totally understand what you're insinuating but then again, we could mention former French-Canadian goaltenders taken in the 1st round that showed glimpses of being a #1 goaltender but then had their careers tail off for whatever reason.

That wouldn't be fair to Jonathan Bernier.

I know what I saw in James Reimer during the season and the playoffs. I feel that he can be our #1 goaltender down the road if he works on rebounds and his glove. It's plausible that he can one day do what Corey Crawford is doing in Chicago, as long as we build a good team around him.

I still want Bernier though. I think he has higher upside but I don't want this team to trade any 1st rounders for him. For me, Matt Frattin and a 2nd rounder is something I could live with. It would hurt a bit if the 2nd rounder was in 2013, since I have a man crush on Marko Dano.

We'll see what happens.

Corey Crawford's glove is worse than Reimer's.

He is much better at controlling rebounds.

Matt Read and a 2nd is the highest Philly would most likely go. If DL asks for anything more than that, he'll be hearing dial tone.

It may meet it but the Islanders would never do that.

We can't afford the older Schenn, cap-wise.

I don't buy those proposals.

Islanders have no reason to be tossing Martin in the convo and they have 'better' pieces to trade.

Ah yes, still laughing at being told Bernier will return a high 2nd at best, or a 2nd and a mediocre prospect, HFBoards wrong yet again what a surprise.

Not only have people not been saying that but Bernier hasn't been traded yet so I wouldn't laugh just yet.

I thought we had agreed Matt Read for Bernier was a pretty fair deal.

It's fair but DL is driving the auction up.

Aside from Read, they definitely have. The tune only changed after the rumors of what's being talked about came out, before that the Kings would be lucky to get a late 1st for him, let's not pretend like that wasn't the general HFBoards consensus.

Matt Martin is almost as untouchable ad Tavares if you ask me. There is few players in this league that embody the heart and soul that Martin has.

I don't care how good Berneir projects to be, if Martin is used in a deal, islanders fans will be furious.

I remember people bringing up the Bobrovsky and Lindback deals as baselines but I think the general consensus was that it would take more than those returns to get Bernier.

I would be fine with Frattin and a second going to LAK. I really hope we can hold on to our first.

This -

personally I just want the deal done with, however take as long as you need Deano as long as the trade isn't with Toronto.

Matt Martin goes nowhere. He is the embodiment of what type of player Snow wants on his team. His stats do not show his true importance to the Isles. You trade him, you set the franchise back two years at least.
