Darroll Powe & Arron Asham waived by NY Rangers

I knew Glen Sather couldn't resist staying out of free agency!

These guys have too low of salary to be eligible for compliance buyouts, right? So they'd either be regular buyouts or hoping another team claims

Compliance buyout?

These guys can be assigned to the AHL and the Rangers take a minimal cap hit if they aren't claimed or traded.

The Rangers can only CBO one of them---I suspect that it would probably be Asham. Remember, they used their other compliance buyout on Wade Redden.

Wait wait wait...what?

What about having the option to buy out Richards next year?

These are actually compliance buy-outs?

I don't think they're CBO's. If Gerbe wasn't expensive enough... How is Powe and Asham?

Neither of these guys make enough money to be a CBO, much like Gerbe yesterday.

I think Asham is a good fit and is cheap enough to be a 13th forward. Powe is a dime a dozen player though

Not compliance buyouts. Looks like we're re-tooling our bottom 6.

I wouldn't mind having Powe here in Oil silks. I remember him being a pretty good grinder back in Philly.

I am among those now thinking that these will be regular buyouts...likely to open up contract slots.

Wouldn't mind bringing Asham to Van. Did he have a good relationship with Torts?

Both of these guys are useless. Asham has $1M left. Powe has a cap hit of $1,066,667. $925,000. The Rangers would take a $216,667 cap hit IF they assigned both players to the AHL. Save $1.85M.

Torts made him a healthy scratch at various times. Like in the playoffs.

I see, so he wouldn't be a player Torts would recommend?
