Honestly, I'm ready to ship him out. I really don't think he has any intentions of re-signing with Anaheim once his contract is up, and I think we could use him to fill our 2nd line C option. I think a trade based around Ryan+Sbisa for Schenn+Schenn can be done, not sure what else we would ask from Philly. I saw another Ducks fan say swap the 1st rounders (We get 11th, they get 26th) and I could get on board with that. Anyone else have opinions?

Schenn, yes. Couturier, no.

I'd rather go for Voracek or Simmonds and Coburn. Bigger needs filled.

Voracek and Simmonds are definitely not avail, and I have 3 huge flyers fans brothers they all would be more willing to give up schenn than couturier, so I think we're fine there. Wouldn't Luke Schenn fill the same role that Coburn would? Plus he's a RHD and very physical.

We obviously need a top pair or top 4 defenseman. It sounds like Murray is sold on Bonino being our 2C and I've got no big problem with that. Coburn would be decent to pick up but if defense is what we're looking for then Philadelphia isn't the best place to look IMO

I didn't say that they were available, but I don't think Ryan is just yet, either. Panaccio isn't a good source. B. Schenn is someone that has shown that he can actually handle second line duties, in that respect he's at least in the ballpark if there's been a change of thinking, but we have no reason to think that is what our organization is eyeing a new center right now - that is all amongst the fans. We do have very good reasons to think that wingers and d-men would be in their sights.

Luke Schenn is not equal to Coburn. Schenn being right handed is ideal, but I'd hesitate to say that he improves that pairing enough to have that be what a deal swings on.

You should probably elaborate on what you mean here. This is after all just a rumor.

Ducks Shopping Ryan

Rumor: Ryan for Coburn and 11th pick, Ryan may be dealt by the NHL Draft. What does everyone think of that?

Did this really need its own thread? Panaccio isn't a very reliable source. A fellow beat writer, with a better rep, shot it down. This seems like fodder for the 'Trades' thread, like it has been for the last day.

Merged the threads. The roster thread is pretty much going to be the Ryan thread for the next 10 days, anyway, I suppose.
(Well, apart from the other actual Ryan thread. )

Value is pretty crappy. And I'm not a big fan of Coburn. But style-wise, he would probably be a decent fit with Fowler. And probably Philly's most valuable defense piece. So I guess it's somewhat plausible. He could be the "defensive part of the package."

Maybe an initial Philly offer?

I'm thinking a lot of these Ryan trade discussions are coming from the Eastern Teams like Philly, Ottawa, and Toronto. It's just rumors like we had when Perry and Getzlaf were near UFA. I think Ryan will sign here. I know we haven't been the best to give positive PR, but I think he likes it here. Once he gets sign the rumors will go away.

I'd say that's an accurate projection. He's got an absolutely wicked shot though so I wouldn't be surprised to see him tap 70 at some point. Especially if he gets to play with Getzlaf and Perry.

Well there's many possible sources of rumors.

You're referring to an intentional leak. Maybe an intentional leak isn't needed for an initial offer.

Or it could be unintentional (a staffer or something releasing info without permission). Or it could just be made up by the columnist/"source."

Whatever. I generally don't worry about stuff like that. Because I can't really understand why there would ever be intentional leaks. I normally just take every rumor as a "trade proposal" and evaluate like that. I'm just saying the pieces are close enough to the types of pieces (if not the value) that this seems almost credible.

With #11 pick we would pick an unknown guy that is expected to be taken late in the first round anyway

It feels like Panaccio did this to stir the pot and get Flyers fans excited. That's a great deal for them IMO, it really looks like an offer that we'd see on HF.

How about DSP + 2nd for coburn.

I like the randomness of picking up another 1st... but i have faith in our drafting. I dont think they need super mega picks. I think they can find gems in late 1sts and 2nds.

As for ryan for coburn... we shouldnt be giving up the best player in deals.

We should not be giving up the best player in any deal.

We should be doing what burke did when he went for pronger.

Ship off the "dead weight salaries" in ryan and fasth and allen. Pull in higher talent than we have with a big trade, preferably on the blue line. Rely on our cheaper youngsters to fill in the holes in the bottom 9 with some vets sprinkled in.

Spend to the cap and grab a top tier ufa Dman or forward.

We should not be looking to sidegrade.

Stars win championships. Especially allstar defensemen.

I'm not opposed to trading DSP but Coburn does not really excite me. From what I have read his inconsistent play sounds a lot like Allen and Souray. Not that his game is the same, but that he can look good at times and not so good many other times.

I'd like to see a D man come here. But I agree that I want us to get the best player in any deal. If that means we add then fine. But it has to be for a legitimate top 2 guy.

Hard to believe that Murray would settle for Coburn and 11th. Wasn't he asking for Schenn and Couturier for Ryan a year ago?
