Cause why not?

Calder Trophy: No votes

Vezina Trophy: Jonas Hiller 9th (3 points, one second place vote)

Norris Trophy: Francois Beauchemin 4th (290 points compared to Letangs 914. One first place vote, 6 second place votes, 20 third place votes)

Sheldon Souray T-23rd (no I'm not kidding) (1 point, one 5th place vote)

Hart Memorial Trophy: Ryan Getzlaf 7th (96 points to Kane's 157. 8 third place votes)

Francois Beauchemin 23rd (1 point, one 5th place vote)

GM of the Year: Bob Murray 2cd (88 pts to Shero's 94)

Frank J Selke: Ryan Getzlaf 18th (16 points, one third place vote, 3 fourth place votes, 2 5th place votes

35th Saku Koivu (1 4th place vote, 1 5th place vote)

Jack Adams: Bruce Boudreau (88 points to Quenneville's 160 and MacLean's 206. Boudreau only received 6 first place votes.

Randy Carlyle (eh why not) 7th place

Lady Byng Memorial Trophy: Teemu Selanne 14th (52 points. 10 more and he'd be a top 10 finalist)

Andrew Cogliano 32cd: (19 points)

Saku Koivu T-46th: (7 points)

Ted Lindsay: voting figures not available.

Getzlaf should not be behind Kane in the Hart voting but meh they're 6th and 7th so it's not a big deal. I'm still furious about Subban winning the Norris. What an absolute joke.

Btw it's 2nd not 2cd

Beauch being 4th is actually higher than I thought they'd vote him.

He arguably could have been a finalist, if he didn't slow down as the season moved on. Unfortunately, the way the voting works, how you finish seems to be more significant than how you start, and Beauchemin might have been the best defenseman to start the season.

Exactly why I thought they'd keep him down.

I just hope he comes back next season just as strong. Game 1 of the playoffs even with the ACL he was playing at an elite level.

Was surprised to see Beauchemin that high, even though he had a great season. Didn't think he'd get that kind of recognition. Good for him.

I was going to comment on Hiller getting that vote being in some way meaningful or at least illustrating something, but then I saw Emery getting a 1st place vote, and decided to not give a ****.

Curiosity question. Does Emery still have trouble going side to side like when he was here or has his hip strengthened back to "normal" now? Anybody watch him this year?

I was wondering the same thing, but haven't gotten to watch him myself, nor have I read anything about that in particular.

The weird thing is the Vezina is voted on by GMs - not writers. So someone with the knowledge of an NHL GM thought Hiller was the second best goalie in the NHL last season. I wonder what they'd be willing to give up for him in a trade....

Was prolly just Kekalainen trying to steal votes away to help Bobrovsky

Then offer him to OTT, quickly.

Now if it is Bob Murray, then the cat's out of the bag. Fasth is being traded.

Wow.... Didn't even realize I did that. I kept rereading it thinking "wth is he talking about the Ottawa GM for it clearly says Bob Murray." I'm still recuperating from finals week.

I've done worse with less of an excuse. It's the off season, we have to have some fun.

BTW, does anybody know if there will be another July rookie camp this year or did the lockout foul that up too?

How else would Ovechkin win?

Ovechkin winning that trophy made a lot of sense, given what that trophy is actually dedicated to. Tavares would have made sense as well, but giving it to Ovie was the right decision. His slow start while the Caps struggled, and him turning up and being to biggest single factor in the Caps getting to the playoffs while ending up with quite respectable individual totals despite the slow start only illustrate his value to his team.

That seems to be true of all sports.

And we benefited from it with Perry, so I can't complain.
