If Lebron James learned to skate well...

If Alex Ovechkin or Sidney Crosby personally mentored Lebron in skating, could he become an elite hockey player in the NHL? I ask because he is one of the best athletes of the generation, and has a lot of traits that are not basketball dependent. He has exceptional power, speed, coordination, drive and leadership. If he could skate well I think he could be an incredible hockey player. What do you think? And how hard would it be to learn to skate at an elite level, already being a more than exceptional athlete?

The best way to find out is to get Lebron and Kobe out on the ice in a scrimmage against one another.

Wouldn't matter. The guy would spend most of the time on the ground, looking for a call.

He would be an awful hockey player even if he was a great skater. There is much more to hockey than being a fantastic athlete and a good skater. If that is all it took, certain players would have been much better at hockey than they ended up being.

The real question is: would he be a better NHL player than Jordan?

He wouldn't be very good since he hasn't played hockey his whole life like pretty much all good hockey players.

lol what is this?

You can't just pick up hockey and become an elite player. James couldn't even become an ECHLer no matter who is mentoring him.

Oh my god another LeBron thread on Hf. This is getting ridiculous.

And no you comparing hockey to basketball is completely incoherent. Skating is not even half the part of hockey.

Terrible. Stop making LeBron threads people. This is the Nhl

Hockey is the hardest team sport to play. It requires more than just being a good athlete.

Ovechkin doesn't strike me as a great mentor.

Well he would be one of the most athletic hockey players but have he ever hold a stick in his hands? You need a little more than just being big, strong and fast.

Michael Jordan was technically brilliant but no where near the ATHLETE that Lebron is.

LeBron is an amazing basketball athlete. Who knows if that would translate to other sports. Maybe football idk.

If Chara could learn to walk, and run once in a while, and wear a basketball jersey, would he immediately become an awesome NBA player?

Yes. Yes he would. Clearly.

He'd be athletic. I'll give him that one.

Don't know if he'd be any good. You don't need to be a gifted athlete to be a great hockey player. You need to think better than the rest.

Hockey is one of the sports you cant just excel at by being a good athlete.

Ive known a lot of hockey players and they generally were good at most other sports, but not vice versa.

Why do I have to read about this guy on a Hockey website?

Can we make a forum or all of this NBA garbage to go? Its becoming real annoying.
