Marc-Andre Fleury

haven't really seen this on here but would be interesting to see what people would off

Notes:
1: 3 early exits in the playoffs for him (due to bad play on his own end).
2: DB said he is the #1 Goalie for the pens next season and will play a lot of games.
3: has had season success every year except his first two season in the league can get a team into the playoffs.

With that contrast and the recent results, you cannot think his value is very high. PIT is most likely better off keeping him and hoping he turns it around.

I have never thought he was anything above a mediocre goaltender. He has had one good year and one decent playoff, he wasn't even that good when they won the Cup.

Any team that wants a goaltender would be better off trying to sign Smith as an UFA for something close to the salary Fleury is getting. I would rather sign Anton Khudobin as an UFA or Tim Thomas. I would rather trade for Luongo. Fleury wouldn't even start to enter the picture for me until I had explored all of those and more.

Maybe he would make sense for a rebuilding team to take a chance on and either he gets back to being the mediocre goaltender he was or he just fills the goaltending spot for a couple of years until they find a goaltender.

Fleury has negative value right now. If Pittsburgh deals him now (if they can even find anyone to take on that contract), they will have to include a nice asset and take not much of anything back.

Buyout candidate. This is the salary cap era, if your team doesn't want him at that hit, why would someone else? I can't see any team wanting him at 5 mil. Buying him out could be the difference between re-signing both of Iginla and Dupuis or only one, as well as fixing your D.

I could see him having moderate value to certain teams. If Pitt stays with them, they better keep one hell of a backup.

Second or third picks in the 3rd round, maybe.

that's crazy. Fleury should be able to fetch even a 2nd rounder, but not 2nd overall. unless they send something gigantic with him.

Letang won't get the 3rd overall pick, either. Florida and Tampa have no reason to trade what will likely be Mackinnon/Drouin respectively for anything Pittsburgh is likely to have available for trade.

Letang for Drouin/Connolly
Fleury for 4th OV ( Nichushkin)
Then trade for Bernier.

Drouin-Crosby-Connolly
Nichushkin-Malkin-Neal
Kunitz-Jokinen-Dupuis
Vitale-Sutter-?

Just kidding of course....
