Very credible besides what 1 or 2 people say. Oilers insiders that talks to lots of hockey people and talks to some GMs around the league

Calgary, I'll give it to 'em, they have us beat at centre thinness.
While Calgary is very thin at Center, Knight would battle with Gaunce and Schroeder for icetime, and the Sedins are not going to be around forever.

Knight is from just outside of Calgary so I definately can see them having an inside edge with Knight.

I'd like him on the Blues and give him a shot at the #3 center spot. I think the Flames and Oilers will be the front runners though.

That's way to much. We don't know if Knight can even play in the NHL yet. He may need some AHL time to develop.

I haven't seen a ton of him but he fits the mold of a Peverley/Kelly type player, good defensive player that can still put up a decent amount of points but is best on the 3rd line.

Okay so He's not as "power forward" as I thought.

Either way this kid seems to be talented. Hope the blues give him a look.

knight playing in calgary makes all to much sense, would say he is more likely to break into the flames lineup than the oilers as well which might be a determining factor. he's got 3rd line upside if things pan out.

@Bob_Stauffer: For those asking @CorbanKnight holds the cards in where he goes. Am told he has family connection to #Flames. Good opportunity for him there

If he is such an insider you think he would have at least had some info on who we were taking last year.

I'm not interested in giving up assets to acquire Knight. If he does indeed have a family connection, that could sway his decision towards Calgary when he becomes a Free Agent. Really though, there's no other team in the league where he would have the same opportunity. Cammalleri is not a center, Backlund is often injured and Stajan isn't a legitimate top-6 guy.

I'd give Florida a 4th rounder at most.

I had the pleasure of being a student at UND for 3 years of Corbans career...he has the skills to be an effective player, and a terrific work ethic/attitude. He was part of the group of team leaders that got suspended for some kind of alcohol/loud party on campus, but he is known as a really great guy that doesn't drink/party and focuses on hockey. He has good touch and could be a good 3rd line guy. I know hes from Alberta and I think Calgary would be a good place for him to go.

That's way too much.

Future considerations is all it will be.

Streit's rights cost a 4th, we gave up a 5th to acquire Wideman's rights. I'm fully aware he isn't close to be an established NHLer, but Florida isn't going to deal him for future considerations. They get something for their prospect and we get the convenience of not waiting until August 15th.

If he could be had for less, great. But Florida needs to be given at least some incentive.

Why would Florida do that?

Let's at least be fair. Stauffer didn't say the Oilers were taking Murray, and he never claimed to know who they were taking.

He gave his opinion on who they would take.

Regardless of what you think of his credibility or connections, how would he have any knowledge of who they were taking if, as we all know, there was absolutely no information coming from the Oilers on the subject? Just like in previous years, they weren't letting anyone know.

Until August 15, he's property of the Panthers. If they get nothing for him in a trade, where is the motivation to move him? If they're losing him anyway, why do other teams any favours if they're not willing to cooperate?

On August 16th, offers any number of teams could come in. Why would the Flames take that chance?

The Flames have two 7th round picks this year, 187th and 198th. One of those for his rights is plenty IMO.

I think that would be a chance the Flames would take then.

If another team wants to trade for him just to find out he's going to wait until August 15 to sign with the Flames, where he is virtually guaranteed a spot on the roster, all power to them.

It really has nothing to do with other teams wanting to trade for him. It comes down to Florida doing favours for another team for absolutely no benefit.
