Wpg - nyr

I'm normally not one for proposing trades, but what the hell...

NYR's receive:
Dustin Byfuglien (NYR's get PP point man, and WPG loses a fitness problem)
Alex Burmistrov (NYR's get a young 3rd line center who they can control financially, and WPG has had issues with)
WPG eats 1.2 million of the Buff deal to bring his cap hit down to 4 million even.

WPG receives:
Michael Del Zotto (not the offensive player that Buff is, but he's cheaper/younger top 4 option)
Chris Kreider (A promising player like Burmi who also hasn't fully realized his potential yet)
Brian Boyle (replacement 3rd line center)
2nd round pick

What are the deal breakers/alterations that would be needed to make this deal go through... or is it just totally out of left field...

Not at all unreasonable. I'd probably want more for Burmistrov or prefer the Jets to hold on to him for now though. Buff for MDZ+ has practically become a HFBoards meme and I personally think it's a good fit for both sides.

What bothers me most about this is actually losing Boyle.

Fair value vise, imo, but I'd prefer to keep the players we have. Not bad, though.

If it makes you feel any better, then I'm sure the Rangers could find a way to keep him ;-)

I don't see him being the deal breaker...

Stepan
Brassard
Burmistrov
Boyle

That's certainly a nice (and cheap) run up the middle. All of those players (sans Boyle) should steadily improve with increased roles in a quality line up..

Hell no for the Rangers. If we are packaging MDZ and Kreider I want a good young player. Burm is not that.

We're packaging them for Dustin Byfuglien. Burmi is an addition.

The Jets won't be eating any of Buff's contract. Contrary to what some people think on HF, Buff's contract is fine for his value.

Not much interest in Boyle. He would need to be replaced with a decent prospect / pick.

interesting value.. id like to keep Boyle. Also, Rangers really need a LW but they also need a pp triggerman who is a RHD. I would be on board with this I believe. good deal all around.

I think Buff instantly makes the PP top 10 in the NHL. That trigger man from the point has been missing for as long as I can remember. Burmistrov would slide right into the 3C hole, and should def improve over time.

Those prospects are nowhere close to Kreiders value. That kills the deal for Winnipeg.

Exactly. Take out Boyle and the 2014 2nd rounder and add in J.T Miller.

I agree. This is legitimately a deal where I'm 50/50 on doing. I think when part of you wants to do it and when the other part doesn't, you know it's a good deal.

I do agree there, but there is part of me that would do this deal.

The Rangers become a much better team with this while not adding much onto their cap. I'll accept without any hesitation.

Don't really see the point in adding another offensive left handed d-man.

As a Jets fan I take this deal. Short term Rangers benefit if Buff can keep his weight down. Long term this makes Jets a better team.

if Rangers make this deal, we'd still need another LW regardless. Hags would be our only one, unless people really believe Zucc can play top 6 over a full season.

Prefer to keep Kreider and his upside, and do NOT want Buff.
We can talk Burmistrov/+ for X ___________ (not Kreider)

{Maybe something around Hags for Burmi}

I would do that. It's one that works for both teams IMO.

The breaker may be the Rangers well deserved love for Kreider.

That being said, this does make them a better them.

Also, InB4 OMG NO WAI BUFF IS FATSO

As an outsider, this looks like a pretty good deal for both teams. The Rangers get that powerful RHD in Byfuglien and the Jets get a LHD with potential. I might take out Boyle from the Rangers' side, though. Maybe add in a 4th instead.

Rangers' defense would be great:

McDonagh - Girardi
Staal - Byfuglien
Moore - Stralman
X: McIlrath, Sauer (+)

LITERALLY!

As a Jets fan, I like this proposal. It's kind of a "ah, I like Buff and will miss seeing him" but I'd do this. I'm a huge Burmi fan but I'm really starting to think he needs that new scenery.

The 2nd and Kreider would certainly ease the pain of all this.

Perhaps I'm more of a Buff fan than others, but if both Buff AND Burmi are being dealt, it better be McDonagh or Staal coming back or it's really not worth it.

He's a top 5 OFD, and while I like MDZ, that return is full of pieces that are just add-ins.

Also let me make it clear that I'm pretty sure no WPG consider him a 'fitness problem' that needs to be traded asap. Personally if the return for him isn't very very very good, I have no problem keeping him.
