Officially, yes.

Looks like Logan's not gonna spill the beans.

Don't know if his agent will.

I don't know there's anyone in the Sharks organization who knows who will.

And the NHL (league) won't have the details until the contract is filed on 7/5.

Why? Malkin, Streit, and Gonchar haven't officially signed either right but their organizations have no problem spilling the beans.

Or their agents? The players themselves?

The Sharks/DW do things more "close to the vest" and don't make announcements until things are finalized.

Probably going to be quite close to what Jeff Skinner has, 5.8 AAV and an NTC.

Pollak speculates 5 year deal (internal "max").

I'll gladly take what Jaime Benn is making. That would be an awesome deal for him.

Pollak is wrong in this case. See Michalek, Milan.

So the Sharks lost about 25 million last year...if they gave money AND term to Couture, I would take that as a sign that Hasso doesn't "care about the money".

Well, with the new CBA's max allowed 7 years, it's not that big of a difference, especially compared to the previous 14 year contracts.

Woot!

The important thing is that we got him! Can't wait to find out the details.

Whoops, I missed the context.

Couldn't you sign a guy to a one-year deal and then give him a 7-year extension on-the-spot? Making it effectively an 8-year-deal? Heck, once he joins your team, isn't he eligible for 8 years, making it a 9-year-contract?

Cap circumvention, I guess. I wonder if sign and trades (8yrs) will be voided by the league.

Players signed to 1 year contracts cannot be re-signed until January, unless that changed in the most recent CBA.

I can see them saying they lost that in revenue but I don't see that in terms of their team's bottom line.

Don't know specific numbers but after last seasons bottom line not being great they expected to lose even more money this (shortened) season - it's part of the reason why Sclavos & Compton sold their shares in the org.

@KKurzCSN: Again, Couture's extension, when made official, expected to be five years on top of remaining year on current deal http://t.co/PjC4IdjmbS
