Castellanos was average at best at 3rd. If we got him, he'd probably stick in LF with Dom moving back to RF. Phillies have a nice pipeline of 3b prospects coming up. Asche is solid, Franco has raked all year, Zack Green has been promising so far in Williamsport, I still have hope for Mitch Walding, and they just drafted Jan Hernandez, Trey Williams, and Joey Martarano. They are in good shape at the hot corner.

Damn, at the very least I guess good news is they are operable. Prayers go out to him. That totally sucks.

Phillies acquire infielder McDonald from Tribe

Quote:
On Thursday, the Indians traded McDonald to the Phillies in exchange for a player to be named later or cash considerations. Philadelphia is expected to make a subsequent roster move to officially add McDonald on Friday, when the infielder is scheduled to join his new team in Los Angeles.

Over 15 seasons, the 38-year-old has had stints with the Indians, Blue Jays, Tigers, D-backs and Pirates. At this stage in his career, McDonald is typically used as a utility infielder or a late-inning defensive specialist off the bench.

McDonald has hit just .236 in 978 career games in the Majors, but he brings a strong defensive presence for second base, shortstop and third base. McDonald is widely regarded as a positive influence in the clubhouse.

Good job Ruben, he'll really help out this inconsistent and impatient offense!!

Am I the only one not getting this move as is? I mean, we have Frandsen and Galvis who can collectively play every position in the infield. What the hell's this guy's purpose?

Send Galvis down to get him more consistent at bats? One of the infielders is getting traded? Veteran leadership?

Still doesn't really make sense.

I think it's just to be able to send Galvis to AAA and get regular at-bats, without having to call up MiniMart again. If that's the logic, I like it. Galvis should be playing everyday, trying to develop as a hitter.

Have the Yankees made any moves to replace Teixeira? Maybe the Phils are moving Michael Young to them, and starting Galvis at 3rd?

It'd be awesome if we could make them take Howard lol.

I don't care about the McDonald trade unless it takes away reps from Galvis. Dunno why it was done, I think Frandsen and Galvis are more than capable utility players.

Makes sense, I'd be cool with that. I want to put Michael Martinez on a space ship and direct it into the freaking sun. He'd probably still find a way onto the Phils roster, though.

That's a rule 5 pick I would've just given back.

Rather than quote everything and clog up everything....

Maybe Macdonald is a late inning glove guy, who Manuel enjoyed having around the team before?

Maybe Galvis is being sent down to work on playing every day?

Yankees were looking at a Catcher.

Maybe we can beg them to take Humberto Quintero.

Well the offense is starting to pick it up a bit. Still dont trust this bullpen with a 12-0 lead..

we really really really need a good stretch here:

win 7-8 of 10 and we are back in the race

always been a good 2nd half team under chuck...gotta start now though, we are getting to far out of it to wait until august

sooo much postseason experience on this team....if we can somehow get there it could be a fun ride!

oh and ps, wake the **** up hamels! 2 and 15 in his starts??? are you kidding me...at the absolute worst we should be .500 which would give us 6-7 more wins...cmon man, you are way better than this!!

In all fairness he should have a couple more wins under his belt if it weren't for the inconsistent offense in front of him. But yeah he has sucked this year pretty bad.

Another example of Charlie being an idiot. Lee is obviously out of gas and he leaves him in there. I don't care if it's Cliff Lee. I don't care if it's ****ing Nolan Ryan. He was done. Just ticks me off so much.
