So I'm all whonked out on painkillers at the moment. Found out I have a fracture and broken bones which effectively ends my summer. Super depressed, but oh well. Wish there was hockey on so much right now.

As many a math nerd loves to point out, it's pronounced like "Oiler" because it's German, not "Yuler" like it's Greek.

I like math, but I'd rather play in traffic than try to do anything with differential equations.

In other news, I'm getting disturbingly interested in poker.

I've never been to a casino before. Might go sometime soon, but only with cash and I'll leave all debit/credit cards at home.

Played a lot of poker myself online and in casinos, but I stopped after Black Friday. Used to play a lot of 1/2 games in the Indian casinos in Minny and Michigan before I turned 21.

Supposed to meet my friend at Wrigley at 530. I was on time, she showed up an hr late, her other travel buddies ran late. She had 2 sets of tickets: 2 in row 12 on Stone's side, and 2 about 40 rows back more centered. At first I was sitting back in row 40, but the dude sitting with her would rather have sat more squared up 40 rows back, so I gladly moved up, I thought the row 12 seats were awesome.

Show started 45 minutes late due to an electrical issue, which put us right in the middle of a storm about to pass by. They got 7 songs in before Eddie said we had to evacuate the field for safety as heavy winds were coming and they didn't want to risk the huge rig coming down. He said it would take 30 minutes to evacuate and the storm was expected to last 30 minutes, so they would hope to start up again in about an hr (10pm). Well, my friend and I snuck into the VIP area, ran into Dennis Rodman, a bunch of Blackhawks (I think) Kenny Mayne from ESPN, but I got kicked out when I stepped away to try to get better cell reception. She stayed in the VIP area the rest of the show.

I was hanging out by the ivy in right field (where several dudes took a leak on rather than wait in long lines). It took about an hr to evacuate the field and by then, the storm started.

By the time the rain ended and we all got back inside, 2 1/2 hrs passed, it was 1130. And the curfew at Wrigley? 11:30. But the band tweeted that they were still going to play a full show. Ed came out, put on a vintage Cubs jersey of Jose Cardinal and sang the song he wrote for the Cubs a few years ago, it was awesome. And right after that, hall of gamer Ernie Banks came out, really cool stuff.

They then started up again and played all the way until 2am, 2 1/2 hrs past curfew, barely anyone left during the delay.

The problem then became how to get 40,000 people that took cabs and trains to Wrigley home at 2am. I am sure they expected to be done at midnight, many fans would go to local bars and it would be easier to get cabs. But it was closing time around Wrigleyville and there were zero available cabs and I was a 15-20 minute car ride away from my hotel, about 10 miles.

I walked for about 10 minutes in the general direction of my hotel and finally found an empty bike/cab. I asked if he could take me to a spot where I could get a cab, he said no way, there's no cabs within a few miles. I said how much, seriously? He said $40 cash up front and he would take to me the area where the bars are open until 4. I had to get back, so I gave him the cash and took a seat.

The driver asked if I wanted a beer, and of course I did, so he gave me a tall PBR and off we went. He was crazy, darting in and out of car and foot traffic, but no luck for about 10 minutes. Finally we got to a bar where a cab was just dropping someone off and he crossed in front of oncoming traffic and dropped me at the cab. I thanked him, and 10 minutes later I was at the hotel.

Pretty amazing night.
Awesome story man. I was back by the dugout for the whole show and we had a great time as well. My buddy was isn't quite as diehard was dissapointed that they didn't play some of their bigger hits (like Alive, Better Man, Yellow Ledbetter, etc.). But even still he had fun too.

We had taken the train downtown and the last Metra train was at 12:40...so like everyone else, we lost our planned way back. We ended up walking down Addison towards the Kennedy...got about halfway there when we found a cab. Took that to the blueline train, took that to O'Hare, then got a cab from there to Naperville for 45 bucks. Wasn't bad at all.

Here's a video I took of Eddie singing 'All the Way' for Cub fans. Personally I'm a Sox fan and not a Cub fan, but I guess on this one night all that went out the door.

My parents were born in Chicago. Dad was a Sox/BlackHawks/Chicago Cardinals (yes, I'm old) fan his whole life. Mom likes the team wherever she lives, so she is now a Sharks/A's/49ers fan.

I'd never been to Wrigley before, but Ed's speech about growing up watching the Cubs with his grandfather on a black and white tv.....and the first time he went to Wrigley seeing all the bright colors and how Wrigley has been his mecca since a kid......that was awesome. I have a ton of great memories with my dad and sports and I knew exactly how Ed feels.

This was the view I had

I play a bunch. Played in some World Series events, but usually stick to smaller tournaments. I am much better in tournaments than in cash games.

BTW, good plan on not going with credit/debt cards. Only play with what you can afford to lose.

Just saw an ad for organic cigarettes.

Yeah, really don't want that tobacco to have any added chemicals in it or anything, eh?

To be fair, if I had to choose, I'd take the one without the radioactive material.

I had planned to listen to the show from my buddies' porch, they live on Addison like 150 yards east of Sheffield. My cousin from Phoenix is in town though and wanted to get to a Sox game while she was here, so I got stuck doing that instead. With how the weather turned out, guess it ended up being the right choice though.

An MLB player thought my buddies and I were funny at a game today and wrote sexual innuendos on some stuff we brought to the game. Absolutely no filter. I appreciate people that don't give a **** about being politically correct and act like themselves. I earned some respect for him today.

And Kurtosis, first off, I hope the recovery from whatever injuries you suffered is going well. Do you mind sharing how it happened and/or what kind of injuries you sustained?
