Five 20 Goal Scorers This Year?

How many Jets will reach the 20 goal mark this year?
I think we will have at least 4:
Kane - 34
Ladd - 27
Wheeler - 25
Setoguchi - 20

Other possible 20 goal getters will be Buff, Little and Jokinen (I know, laugh it up!)
I also think that Wheeler will get the most points this season totalling 70 points.

I don't think it's out of the question that Scheifele could hit 20 if he stays on the 2nd line and gets 2nd unit PP time.

Kane and Ladd should be locks. I would bet on Wheeler hitting 20 as well. After that, it gets dodgy. Could see one or two of Little, Joker, Seto, Scheif, maybe even Frolik hitting 20. Nothing I would count on, though.

When's the last time a team with five 20 goal scorers missed the playoffs? I would think you'd need historically inept production from your bottom 6 and league-worst goaltending for that to occur. EDIT: Looks like TB achieved that "feat" in 2011-12.

I remember one of the Jets 1.0 better seasons and they had a bunch (5 or 6?) 20 goal scorers, really doing it by committee. That was a great season, but of course we lost in the first round of the playoffs to the Oilers.

I love watching a team that has that many potential 20g scorers, makes for an exciting season.

Carolina probably would have got there last year too.

It was, I think they still have the record for most 30g scorers on a single team.

That was during an era when 30g was more or less equivalent to 20g nowadays.

Those 4 generally put up the shot volumes to get to 20.

Little doesn't and Joker was way off that pace last year. Either guy could have a nice puck luck year. Same goes for Buff (although he shoots a lot). I'd really really like to see Scheifele get there though.

I knew it was good, but didn't want to exaggerate or research it

That's how I see this version of the Jets pulling things off eventually. Between our current roster and our prospects, we have a very good chance of making a good push in the playoffs.

*edit and we lost in second round to the Oilers.

I'm a pessimist, but I don't see Setoguchi hiting 20 goals. He strikes me as a product of his playmaking centers (first Thornton, then Cullen). Jokinen (and even a rookie Scheifele) are far below that level.

In 92-93, the Jets had 4 ROOKIE twenty goal scorers (Selanne, Tkachuk, Zhamnov, and Davydov). It was proudly commemorated on a poster that I'm sure many Jets fans have.

I think Ladd turned a corner last year and will get at least 35 goals this year. Based on the puny amount of assists Kane's linemates had the last two years, I think Evaander will hit 40 this year with the increased talent on his line.

Rest looks good to me, but if Jokinen can hit 20 as a likely 3rd line centre, we're easily in the playoffs on goals for alone.

It was 6 -30 goal scorers. Howerchuck, Maclean, Mullen, Smail, and maybe Boshman and Wilson. It may have been some kind of a record but I do not remember the year.

Hawerchuck (53), MacLean (41), Boschman (32), Mullen (32), Smail (31) and Steen (30) in 1984/85. Scott Arniel and Perry Turnbull also added 22 each.

I would be very surprised if five Jets potted 20 or more. I would be confident in saying that barring injury, Kane, Ladd and Wheeler all get there. After that, I only really see Setoguchi as threatening the 20 plateau, and his production is highly questionable, depending on who is feeding him the potato. Bryan Little may flirt with it, but that top line get so many defensive zone starts, and given who his wingers are (preferable shooters than him), that I just do not think Little quite gets to 20. Maybe I'm being overly pessimistic, but I don't believe Scheifele or Jokinen have a shot. Perhaps a well-conditioned Byfuglien having a career year has as good a shot as anyone, but still highly unlikely.

Pretty Sure Bets:
Kane
Ladd
Wheeler

Maybes:
Setoguchi

Unlikely, But Maybe:
Byfuglien

Tall Order, But Not Impossible:
Little

Would Possibly Net Him The Calder, But Odds Are Slim:
Scheifele

Only In The Brightest Annals Of Optimism:
Jokinen

Just an opinion. Obviously there is no way all of these potential candidates hit 20.

Little had 24 in 11/12, theres no reason why he can't again though he needs to be more defensively responsible now that Noel plays 1 vs 1's

I think its called being realistic. Scheifele is most likely not even ready to play in the NHL yet, but we have him slotted for 20 goals.

Not one person in this thread has said he's a lock for 20.
